This provision is good
Children have positive relationships with the childminder. They demonstrate that they are happy and settled in her care. The childminder helps support their emotional and physical well-being effectively. Children behave well. The childminder teaches them to take turns and share. She helps them learn how to keep themselves safe. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice. She considers what works well and improvements to make. She seeks the views of parents and children to help maintain good standards and drive further improvements. Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder uses her observations and assessments of children successfully to help inform planning for children's future learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not gather comprehensive information from parents about their children's abilities when they first start, to help her plan for their learning more precisely from the outset. The childminder does not fully consider ways for children to increase their awareness of the different languages they and their friends also speak at home, to help value these and to support their communication and language skills further.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's learning journals and the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector spoke with the childminder at convenient times during the inspection and discussed and evaluated the impact of activities offered. The inspector considered the views of parents as part of the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the procedures to follow if she has any concerns, to help protect children's welfare. The childminder has recently updated her safeguarding knowledge and has attended training that has helped her identify how to recognise signs that children may be at risk from extreme behaviours or views. She uses risk assessments effectively to help identify and minimise potential hazards in the home, garden and while on outings. This helps her to keep children safe. The childminder has made some good improvements since her last inspection. For example, she has reviewed the accessibility of resources to help support children to make their own choice about their play.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder enthusiastically joins in with children as they explore different textures, such as pasta and foam. She helps children to confidently name the different colours she has made the pasta. Children enjoy finding leaves in the garden. The childminder describes the leaves using words such as 'crunchy' and 'yellow', which children enjoy repeating. This encourages and builds on young children's early language skills well. The childminder extends children's early mathematical skills well. For example, she helps children problem solve as they compare the sizes of the leaves and the colours of the sequins that they enjoy sorting with her.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children play in a safe and welcoming environment. Relationships between the childminder and the children are very good. Children are happy and settled. The childminder's use of praise and encouragement helps to support children's self-esteem and confidence. She makes good use of her garden to help ensure that children have opportunities to be physically active and get plenty of fresh air. Overall, the childminder works closely with parents to find out about children's routines at home. This helps her to support children to settle well and to feel safe and secure.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good skills that help them to be ready for the move on to pre-school and school. Children demonstrate their motivation to learn. They enjoy looking at books and they anticipate what happens next in their favourite stories. They spontaneously count and receive support to build on their mathematical language while they play.
