This provision is good
The childminder uses information from her observations and assessments of children's development effectively. She plans interesting activities to help support children's good progress from their starting points. Partnerships with parents are successful. The childminder shares regular information about children's progress and encourages parents to share information about children's learning and well-being. This helps to promote consistency for children in their care and development. The qualified childminder is very kind and attentive to children's individual needs. Children form very close attachments to the childminder and her family. They show they feel safe in her home and interact confidently with visitors. The childminder skilfully helps to support children's speech and language. For example, she provides a running commentary during activities, uses precise language and repeats words and sounds effectively.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Sometimes, the childminder does not share sufficient information with other settings that children attend to help provide a consistent approach to children's care, learning and development. The childminder does not consistently help children to develop their early writing skills further.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at suitable times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including the suitability of those living or working on the premises and children's learning and development records. The inspector observed children at play. The inspector and the childminder evaluated the effectiveness of an activity. The inspector discussed how the childminder reflects on her own practice.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of child protection issues and is confident in recognising the signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect. She has a good understanding of the processes she must follow if worried for a child's welfare and who to report her concerns to. The childminder gathers a comprehensive range of information from parents, to help her meet children's care needs effectively. She recognises the importance of keeping her knowledge and skills up to date to help her improve outcomes for children. The childminder regularly reflects on her own practice and takes into account the views of parents as part of her self-evaluation process. The childminder actively encourages parents to continue their child's learning at home and welcomes their observations to help children to continue to progress well.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes regular observations of children at play. She assesses their development and tracks their progress effectively. This enables her to swiftly identify any emerging concerns so that she can plan accordingly for each individual child. The childminder plans a range of exciting activities based on children's interests and what they need to learn next. For example, children learn about shapes while taking part in painting activities and by looking at and recognising shapes in the environment. Children confidently name shapes, such as square and circle, and are starting to recognise other shapes too.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well. The childminder sets a good example, and she is gentle and considerate towards children. Children clearly enjoy their time with the childminder, they are relaxed and show a secure sense of belonging in her home. The childminder helps children to follow a healthy lifestyle. For example, children eat nutritious foods and learn about the importance of playing outdoors each day in the fresh air. Children learn about their local community and the wider world. For example, they attend a wide range of community playgroups and learn about festivals from around the world. This helps children to learn about similarities and differences between people.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and motivated to learn. They explore resources with confidence and enthusiasm. Children approach challenging activities with a positive attitude and learn to listen to and follow instructions. They are becoming independent and learn to take control of their own self-care needs. Children develop their concentration skills, they match shapes and count objects during their play. They are making good progress and gain important skills to help them in the next stage of their learning, including school.
