This provision is good
The childminder is a strong role model for children and supports their good behaviour well. She gives clear and consistent messages about what is expected and children respond well to this. Children are kind, considerate and respectful. They share and take turns happily and actively include others in their play. The childminder supports young children's early language development particularly well. For example, she watches them closely, observes their gestures and repeats their attempts at speech back to them. Children express themselves well and make good progress from the starting points in their learning. The childminder continues to update her childcare knowledge and skills. She regularly meets with other childminders and attends relevant further training opportunities to help her introduce new ideas. For example, after recent training, she has focused more on supporting children's individual learning styles through their play.

This provision is good
Parent partnerships are strong. The childminder keeps parents fully updated with their children's development and shares their next steps in learning regularly. She provides a monthly summary of what the children will be experiencing and gives parents helpful ideas for how they can support learning further at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder gives children the answers to problems before they have time to work things out themselves. Occasionally, the childminder misses opportunities to engage babies more consistently in their play and learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children and the childminder playing together. The inspector viewed a sample of documentation, including safeguarding policies and procedures, and children's records. The inspector and childminder discussed the play activities and children's learning during the inspection, and undertook a joint observation of children's play. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact on children's learning. The inspector sampled written feedback from parents about the childminder's service and discussed with the childminder how she evaluates her provision to bring about improvements.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder reflects on her practice well and successfully includes the views of parents and children. She makes continual improvements to help raise children's outcomes and broaden their experiences. For example, after recent training, the childminder now regularly takes children to explore local woodlands. They observe wildlife and collect natural resources to explore and use in exciting creative activities. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of the procedures to follow if she has concerns about the safety of the children in her care. She is up to date with current legislation and knows how to protect children from extremism.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder assesses children's learning closely and keeps accurate records of their development. She knows their interests well and plans activities that support their next steps in learning successfully. For example, young children enjoy exploring coloured toys and organise them into matching coloured bowls. The childminder extends their learning successfully, by encouraging children to compare the toys by size and to find specific ones. The childminder supports children's creativity well. For instance, children happily explore paint with their fingers and make colourful autumn pictures. She encourages their interest in stories and makes them interactive. Children enjoy pressing buttons on the books to make sounds and explore textures on the pages eagerly.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form strong bonds with the calm, caring and friendly childminder. They are very happy and secure, and settle quickly into the childminder's care. For example, babies enjoy cuddles and affection, while developing the confidence to explore the environment independently. The childminder supervises children closely and supports their healthy lifestyles well. For example, she provides nutritious homemade meals and encourages regular outdoor physical play. Children are active and benefit from varied opportunities for exercise that include trips to local parks and soft-play areas.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children quickly develop the skills they need for the next stage in their learning and for school. For example, babies stand up and crawl from an early age and show curiosity as they explore sensory toys. Children show good control using paintbrushes and concentrate well as they paint. They enjoy choosing their play and show good independence. Children develop a strong understanding of technology and confidently explore electronic toys, learning how to control them. Older children communicate confidently and speak in full sentences. They happily talk about their recent experiences and share their ideas, views and feelings with enthusiasm.
