This provision is good
The childminder has worked hard to address the actions and recommendations raised at the previous inspection. She has drawn up a targeted action plan with support from the local authority to help her ensure that she offers a good standard of care for children. The experienced childminder has a secure knowledge and understanding of how children learn. Observation, assessment and monitoring of their learning are accurate and clearly show the progress they have made from their starting points. The childminder supervises children well and completes regular risk assessments to identify and minimise any potential hazards. While walking in the community, the childminder teaches children how to help keep themselves safe as they learn about road safety. The childminder has high expectations of children. She praises their efforts and achievements. This contributes to supporting their self-esteem and confidence.
p.1
This provision is good
The childminder works in partnership with other settings the children attend. This helps support children's continuity of care and learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not make the most of opportunities for the most able children to develop their independence skills. The childminder does not always pause for children to think about the questions she asks before she provides an answer for them.

The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of all household members over 16 years of age and the qualifications of the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge and understanding of her role and responsibilities to protect children from harm. She attends training regularly to keep herself up to date with current local safeguarding procedures. The childminder understands the types of situations and events that need to be notified to Ofsted. She reflects on her practice and actively seeks the views of parents and children to help continually improve the service she provides. The childminder provides parents with a daily diary that highlights what their children have been doing during the day. She provides parents with ideas to help further support children's learning at home. Parents provide positive feedback about the childminder and the quality of the care and learning she offers.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a wide range of activities which successfully promotes all areas of learning. Children follow their interest as they play, they are confident to choose toys from the wide range of available and interesting resources. The childminder is skilful at following children's lead in their play. Children use their imagination well as they play with small-world toys. They enjoy using jugs and balancing scales to weigh and measure ingredients to make porridge for the three bears. Children have opportunities to practise their early writing skills. They enjoy making marks with chalks, excitedly talking about what they are drawing. Children begin to show a keen interest in the natural world. They delight in looking at and smelling plants and herbs in the garden.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder offers flexible settling-in arrangements to meet children's individual needs. She spends time getting to know them and their families. Children form strong attachments with the childminder and openly show their affection towards her. Children confidently interact with visitors and show they feel safe in the childminder's care. Children enjoy healthy snacks and fresh, nutritious meals. The childminder ensures they have plenty of fresh air and opportunities to be physically active in her well-resourced garden. The childminder supports children to learn to share, take turns and understand about the needs of others. Children's behaviour is good.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children have good physical skills. They take manageable risks in their play as they steer wheeled toys and climb and balance on large equipment. Children have opportunities to learn about different people, places and celebrations. The childminder helps them to develop an understanding of the world around them. Children demonstrate a positive attitude towards their learning. They are developing the necessary skills for the next stage of their learning, such as nursery, and for their eventual move on to school.
