    Summary of complaint

On 11 October 2017, we received a complaint that raised concerns about the management of children’s sleeping arrangements, staff conduct, children’s dietary needs and the organisation of activities and experiences for children’s learning and development. We visited the provider unannounced and looked into this concern to see whether the provider was meeting the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements: Suitable people, Child protection, Key person and Food and drink. We found that the provider had taken action to ensure staff settle children to sleep for an appropriate period of time and that key staff engage with parents to meet children’s individual sleeping needs. In particular, when children do not want to sleep. We found that children’s dietary needs were met and information was available to all staff, including the cook. Staff knew the procedures to report any concerns they may have about other staff and relevant provider and agency contact details are

accessible and available. Children are appropriately supervised and well supported during their play. They experience a broad and stimulating range of indoor and outdoor activities that helps them to make progress in their learning. Although it was not part of the initial concern we found that whilst uncleared staff are always supervised, the initial recruitment records were insufficiently detailed to demonstrate that staff who have regular contact with children are suitable. The provider had taken steps to improve the recruitment records. Ofsted is satisfied with the action taken by the provider. Ofsted will take no further action. The provider remains registered with Ofsted.
