This provision is good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has addressed the issues raised through support from the local authority and through the completion of a range of training. This has had a positive impact on the provision and the outcomes for children. The childminder uses her ongoing observations of children to plan interesting and worthwhile activities that engage and contribute to their next steps in learning. The childminder creates a warm and stimulating environment. Children settle quickly and form strong bonds with the childminder. The childminder develops good relationships with the parents of children in her care. She gathers useful information about children's interests and development. She uses this as an initial starting point to their learning, helping them to make a good start.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not make the most of opportunities for babies and young children to develop their growing speaking skills. Occasionally, the childminder does not fully support babies and young children's independence to further enhance their mobility and emotional well-being.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

increase opportunities for babies and young children to build on and practice their growing speaking skills strengthen support for babies and young children to become more independent and to explore their surroundings to enhance their mobility and emotional well-being.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated the range of activities on offer with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of parents' views of the setting through written statements. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of all adults living in the setting.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her roles and responsibilities to protect children from harm. She undertakes regular child protection training as well keeping herself informed of changes in legislation. This knowledge helps her to support children's welfare. The childminder completes daily checks to ensure that areas children have access to, are safe and secure. The childminder reflects on her practice, using the views of parents and what she observes of children's learning and development. This helps her to develop practice. Parents written comments are positive and supportive of the provision.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows those she cares for well and plans for their needs offering a range of interesting activities. Babies enjoy listening to songs and rhymes and begin to move along to what they hear. They explore plastic bricks and bash them together to create sounds. Children have opportunities to use their imagination linked to their interests. For example, they dress up as pirates and hunt for treasure. The childminder supports babies and young children's developing understanding of mathematics, as she counts out the number of bricks they pick up and talks about shapes. Babies show positive reactions to the childminder's pet dogs; they squeal with delight as the childminder allows them to stroke them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Babies and young children are happy and clearly enjoy their time at the setting. The childminder is a good role model and children learn from her example. She has a calm and friendly manner and helps babies and children learn what is right and wrong. For example, when they pull at her hair she lets them know this is not kind and can hurt. Children have a healthy and balanced diet. The childminder works with parents to ensure all foods offered, contribute to their good health. She recognises when children are becoming tired. She lays them gently into the pram and offers soothing and reassuring words of comfort. Therefore, children's emotional well-being is well supported.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Babies and young children are prepared for their next stage in their care and learning, including school. They begin to show independence as they make choices from a range of floor toys. For example, they work out that when pressing buttons on a toy, sound and light is created. Their literacy skills begin to develop as the childminder reads stories to them. She ensures they are introduced to messy play to support their small muscle skills and creativity.
