This provision is inadequate
Children's safety and welfare are compromised. The childminder fails to take all reasonable steps to ensure that children are not exposed to unnecessary risk. For example, risks associated with transporting children in a car are not given adequate consideration. The childminder fails to keep a record of complaints from parents, as required. The quality of teaching is weak. The childminder fails to challenge children in their learning. Children lose interest in the activities set out and lack motivation to learn. Children do not make the progress of which they are capable. The childminder does not work with parents and use information from other professionals to get an accurate understanding of children's interests and capabilities. She does not know enough about children's individual learning needs to enable her to plan activities and experiences that meet those needs. The childminder does not evaluate the service that she is providing. She has failed to

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the interactions between the childminder and children. The inspector had discussions with the childminder and children during the inspection. The inspector read written statements from parents and took their views into account. The inspector sampled a range of documentation and children's records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective. The childminder puts children at unnecessary risk. For example, as they travel in the car the childminder fails to ensure that they have appropriate car seats for their journeys. She has failed to maintain a record of the complaints that are made to her. This is a breach of requirements. The childminder has not identified weaknesses in the quality of her teaching and the experiences that children have in her setting. She has carried out training on child protection and knows the possible signs and symptoms of abuse and the procedure that she should follow to report them. The childminder does not work well with parents to get a good understanding of each child's individual needs when they first attend her setting. Information shared by other professionals is not used well enough to ensure that children's learning needs are met. For example, the childminder has not used the information shared from children's

previous setting to help her to get an understanding of their stage of development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The childminder completes regular observations of children. However, she does not use the observations to plan for children's individual next steps in learning. Activities are boring and children lose interest quickly. The childminder fails to offer children challenge. She provides a selection of resources for children to access but does not use her resources effectively and provide the support the children need to make progress in their learning. The childminder misses many opportunities to extend children's learning and build on their interests. For example, children express the wish to sing and the childminder tells them that it is time for a story. Her understanding of how children learn is weak.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Children lack motivation in their learning. Older children move between activities and are unable to concentrate on a chosen task. The childminder is kind and caring towards the children. She gives them comfort and ensures that their care needs are met. Children are mostly well behaved; however, they struggle with sharing the resources. Children are provided with healthy snacks and meals, but the childminder misses opportunities to help children to learn about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
p.3
Outcomes for children are inadequate
Weaknesses in the quality of teaching and activity planning mean that children are not challenged and become bored. They choose toys that they would like to play with but do not learn from their play experiences. Children are not sufficiently prepared for the next stage of their learning.
