This provision is good
Children enjoy learning. They make good progress from their starting points. The childminder uses observations and assessment to accurately assess and plan activities to extend their learning. The childminder successfully supports children's language and understanding as children play. For example, she introduces words to describe different textures, materials and insects as children explore with their senses. The childminder is committed to providing high-quality care and education for children. She has high expectations for her provision and for what children can achieve. She reflects on her practice to identify where further improvements can be made. She continually develops her provision according to children's needs. Children settle well and are happy and content in the childminder's care. They develop good levels of confidence and self-esteem.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not provide a broad range of opportunities for children to learn about diversity. The childminder has not fully developed strong partnerships with other settings that children attend, to build a joined-up approach to supporting children's ongoing learning.

The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through verbal feedback provided.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder attends training and is confident about what to do if she is concerned about a child in her care. She implements effective risk assessments in the home and on outings, to enable children to play and learn in safety. The childminder effectively uses professional development opportunities, such as training and working with other professionals to develop her good skills and knowledge of meeting the statutory requirements. She closely tracks the progress children make to help her to target areas where they may need additional support and to ensure they continue to progress well in all areas of learning. Parents are very complimentary about the childminder, praising the range of activities and individual attention given to their child's needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder establishes children's abilities, interests and needs when they begin with her, to help her plan for children's learning right from the start. She provides a wide variety of activities to challenge and engage children. For example, children enjoy using stencils to create their own pictures. The childminder is actively engaged in the children's play and is led by what they want to do. She asks thought-provoking questions that challenge children's thinking. The childminder makes good use of the local environment. For example, she takes children on regular outings to forest school, where children learn new skills and socialise with others. The childminder keeps parents well informed about their children's activities and progress, providing them with suggestions on how they can enhance learning at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a warm and welcoming environment for children. Children form secure attachments with the childminder and enjoy her presence. She meets children's needs well. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. For example, they have daily opportunities for outdoor activities and the childminder encourages parents to provide children with healthy meals. Children are kind and behave well. The childminder consistently praises children for their achievements to help them feel confident and valued. Children develop good friendships with others and use good manners. They learn good social skills as they play alongside each other, take turns and share resources.
p.3
