This provision is good
The childminder is ambitious and keen to develop professionally. She regularly reflects on her practice and identifies areas that she would like to develop further. Children are happy and content in the childminder's care. They settle well into the warm and welcoming environment. Toys and resources are easily accessible to allow children to make choices in their play and lead their own learning. The childminder provides plenty of opportunity for children to socialise with their friends and peers. She arranges regular outings to toddler groups and local parks with other childminders and their minded children. Children behave well. They listen to the childminder and show that they understand the simple boundaries and rules that she puts into place. The childminder recognises the importance of working in partnership with other settings that children attend. She talks regularly with teachers at the local pre-school

about children's learning and development.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always consider different ways of encouraging children to talk and develop their emerging speech and language further. The childminder is still developing her assessment and planning methods. She observes children and broadly identifies what they need to learn next. However, she does consistently use this information to help children make the best possible progress.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents by reading written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands the signs and symptoms of abuse and knows when to take action if she is concerned about a child's welfare. The childminder considers hazards in the environment and puts measures in place to appropriately minimise any danger to children. The childminder is well qualified. She has recently completed an early years foundation degree. She uses the knowledge she has gained to develop her skills and teaching practice. The childminder monitors the progress children make. She puts plans in place to support their good progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gets to know children well. She talks to parents about children's routines and interests before they start. A range of activities are planned for children to enjoy indoors and outdoors. The childminder takes photographs of children while they are playing and shares these with parents electronically. The childminder uses a range of effective teaching methods to support children's learning. She gets down onto children's level and joins in with their play. She praises children and encourages them to 'have a go'. Children enjoy a matching game. They talk about the different vehicles they can see and correctly match the pictures. Children enjoy regular outings to the local farm with the childminder. The childminder supports children to recall the names of their favourite animals. She extends their knowledge by teaching them the names of different animal babies such as foals, kittens and pups.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children play happily with their friends. They are learning to share resources and to respect each other. The childminder supports children to understand and value each other's similarities and differences. Children's good health is well supported. The childminder provides balanced and healthy meals for children every day. She encourages them to try fruit and vegetables that they do not normally eat at home. Children have plenty of opportunity to develop their large-muscle skills in the garden area. They follow good hygiene practices and learn how to respect and care for the family pets.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning in preparation for school and pre-school. They demonstrate excellent social skills and are happy to interact with their peers and with adults. Children are learning to be independent and to take care of their own belongings, such as bags, coats and shoes. Children are developing good concentration skills. They engage enthusiastically in their learning, asking lots of questions and recalling facts that they have recently learnt.
