This provision is good
The childminder has made improvements since the last inspection. For example, she has improved the way that she stores information relating to a child, ensuring confidentiality at all times. The childminder has a good understanding of children's interests and individual needs and offers activities that help to motivate children to learn. Close partnerships with parents are in place. The childminder regularly shares information and summaries of children's learning. This helps to keep parents up to date and enables them to complement children's learning at home. The childminder has a very good range of policies and procedures and she shares these with parents. This helps to keep children safe and healthy. Children have positive relationships with the childminder and each other. This helps to support their self-esteem and emotional well-being.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not take every opportunity to fully build links with other settings that children attend, in order to help secure continuity in children's progress. The childminder has not yet targeted professional development opportunities, to enhance the good-quality care and learning provided, so that children make the best possible progress.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed areas of the childminder's home used for childminding. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder and spoke to children. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector observed play and learning opportunities for children and undertook a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector sampled children's progress records and a range of documentation, including the safeguarding policy, children's registers the childminder's self-evaluation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has completed training and has a good understanding of the possible signs of abuse. She is aware of the appropriate authorities to contact if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder evaluates her service to help ensure her practice supports children's individual needs. She welcomes the views of parents and gathers the views of children. For example, she observes and asks children what activities they would like to do. The childminder supervises her assistant and supports them to develop their skills. The recommendations and actions following the last inspection have been successfully addressed. For example, the childminder ensures that children can access fresh drinking water at all times.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes accurate assessments and carefully monitors children's progress in all areas of learning. She uses these well to provide additional challenges to extend children's thinking and offer extra support to close gaps in children's learning. The childminder is skilled at helping young children to develop good communication and language skills. She models using full sentences and introduces new vocabulary as she describes objects children are playing with. The childminder asks a range of questions to focus children's learning even further and encourages them to think more deeply as they play. The childminder supports older children's thinking skills. For example, she asks children to sort sponge objects into groups of colours and shapes. Children actively engage with the childminder. For example, while looking at books, the childminder effectively helps children to build and extend their knowledge.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The environment is welcoming and has a warm, family ethos. The childminder is a good role model and promotes positive behaviour. She offers children meaningful praise for achievements, such as when they share resources with another child. This helps to raise children's confidence. The childminder provides healthy meals and children have regular opportunities for outdoor play. For example, they visit the local pond to feed the ducks. These outings support children to develop their physical skills and gain an understanding of the wider community. Children learn how to keep themselves safe, for example, through taking part in regular fire drills and road safety discussions on walks in the local area.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning and development. Older children learn skills that prepare them well for school. Children select toys with confidence and decide where they want to play. They are independent learners and are curious about new experiences which motivate them to learn.
