Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the quality of teaching and support for children's learning, inside and outside.  The inspector talked to the childminder, her co-minder and the children at convenient times throughout the inspection.  The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder and evaluated the quality of teaching and learning.  The inspector looked at written feedback provided by parents for the inspection and took account of parents' views.  The inspector looked at some available documentation, such as the attendance register, accident records and children's progress records.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder is an inspirational early years practitioner. She uses meticulous and precise monitoring methods to make sure she swiftly identifies any minor improvements which can be made. She recognises this is a priority she must continue to maintain excellent practice. Positive changes have been made since the last inspection and all legal requirements are now met, especially around hygiene issues. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder's total devotion towards keeping children safe and promoting their health and welfare is exceptional. She is able to quickly recognise any issues which may suggest a child is at risk and has undertaken extensive training updates on current guidance, such as the 'Prevent' duty. Comprehensive, detailed risk assessments are carried out on all aspects of practice, such as outings and activities, to make sure children are continually kept safe.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder clearly understands each child's preferred ways of learning. She uses exemplary methods to help children, especially boys, become totally absorbed in activities and to enjoy finding out new things. For example, in the garden, she provides extensive resources for children to practise their writing skills. Boys like to make marks on the whiteboard and enjoy making complex patterns using a range of resources. One two-year- old boy concentrated for a significant amount of time as he drew his own pictures. The childminder recognised how engrossed he was in his learning and allowed him sufficient time to fully consolidate his new skills and interests. Partnerships with parents are exceptional and parents are fully engaged in every stage of the assessment process.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children develop exceptional relationships with the childminder and her co-minder. Parents commend the way in which the childminder skilfully balances a homely environment with the structure and routine of a first-class nursery. Children are valued as unique individuals and their personal qualities are nurtured and treasured. Even the quietest and youngest children quickly develop excellent levels of communication, making their needs clearly understood. Children's behaviour is exemplary. The childminder acts as an excellent role model and teaches children to be extremely kind, caring and respectful. The childminder uses an extensive range of topics to successfully develop children's learning of the wider world and the importance of staying safe and healthy.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Funding is used extremely well to make sure all children make excellent progress. Those children who need extra help catch up rapidly and start school ready to learn. Swift intervention, such as with speech and language, means children are quickly supported to communicate clearly and effectively. All children, including those who speak English as an additional language, ask questions, listen attentively and are keen to develop their knowledge. They are highly motivated and have a real thirst for learning.
