and young people since the most recent full inspection
This home was judged adequate at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection the home was ‘not judged’. The home has been closed since May 2014. The registered provider has indicated that the home will not be operational for an indefinite period of time. Should the home decide to accept placements, it is required to inform Ofsted of its intention before it does so. It is a condition of the home’s registration that the registered provider must inform Ofsted of its intention to admit children three months before a placement commences.

and young people since the most recent full inspection
Where a home does not have children living there, does not intend to take placements and plans to remain closed for some time, an interim inspection is undertaken and no judgement is made. The home is clean and well maintained. The provider has removed records, furniture and fittings from the premises for safekeeping. The certificate of registration and the Inspection report children’s home: SC010769 2 employer’s liability insurance remain on display. It is evident that fire alarm and emergency lighting checks are undertaken. Prior to accommodating children, the provider would need to ensure that the premises fully comply with relevant health and safety legislations. This relates to confirming the servicing of the fire safety equipment and the electric and gas supplies. During the period of closure, an independent visitor has continued to visit the home in accordance with regulations. They provide monthly reports of these visits to Ofsted, as

and young people since the most recent full inspection
legally required. These reports provide constructive scrutiny reporting on the safety and condition of the premises. This ensures that Ofsted is kept up to date on whether the home remains suitable to accommodate children. Reports highlight areas for consideration as to what the provider will need to do, should the home become operational again. An assigned maintenance company additionally visits the premises every fortnight.

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the differences made to the lives of children and young people. They watched how professional staff work with children and young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care provided. Wherever possible, they talked to children and young people and their families. In addition, the inspectors have tried to understand what the children’s home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people whom it is trying to help, protect and look after.
