This provision is good
The childminder has successfully addressed the actions and recommendations for improvement since her last inspection. For example, she keeps parents well informed about their child's development, including through daily dairies and progress summaries. The childminder provides a welcoming and stimulating environment indoors and outdoors. Children show good concentration and are interested in the range of activities. Children make good progress and develop key skills in readiness for school. The childminder supports children's early reading and writing skills effectively. For example, children sing songs, listen to stories and enjoy making marks with chalks. The childminder encourages children to be independent. For example, they practise putting their shoes on, learn how to wash their hands and attempt to prepare the food at lunchtime. Children settle quickly with the childminder. They develop close relationships and

readily go for a cuddle if they feel they need reassurance. These promote their personal, social and emotional well-being successfully.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always monitor children's progress precisely and use her assessments to plan a wider range of activities to extend children's learning even further. The childminder does not encourage parents to contribute information to children's ongoing learning and assessments to fully promote consistency in their development.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors. She assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at a sample of policies and procedures, professional development records and children's assessment files. She discussed self-evaluation with the childminder. The inspector spoke to children at appropriate times during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of child protection issues. She understands what action to take if concerned about the welfare of a child in her care. She has appropriate policies and procedures in place. The childminder understands the importance of updating her knowledge and practice. For example, she completed forest school training to gain new ideas about supporting children's learning outdoors effectively. The childminder reflects on the overall effectiveness of her setting well to help identify further areas to improve. For example, she highlights the dangers of technology in the setting, such as mobile telephones and cameras, and she completes a course on e-safety.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gathers information about children's individual needs when they first start at the setting. Overall, She observes children in play and identifies what they need to learn next. She plans activities that follow the children's interests and motivate them to join in. For example, children show delight as they paint with a variety of tools. The childminder successfully promotes children's communication skills. For example, she emphasises key words as she demonstrates how to use the tools, saying 'stamp', 'brush' and 'press'. Children also enjoy looking at photographs of their family and practise repeating their names. The childminder encourages children to explore numbers, shapes and colours through their daily activities and routines.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well. They listen carefully to instructions and respond well to positive encouragement. They show a good understanding of the care routines in the setting. For example, young children lie down on the changing mat themselves when they see the childminder has the wipes ready to change their nappy. Children wash their hands regularly and thoroughly during the day and the childminder explains why this is important. Children spend time outdoors and enjoy developing their physical skills. For example, they attempt to ride on push-along toys and scooters. They use their imaginations well when they push dolls around in buggies and pretend to go shopping with a trolley.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are working within the range of development typical for their age. They grow in confidence and learn how to communicate with others well. Children develop their problem-solving skills effectively. For example, they scoop sand into a hole and watch carefully to see how it makes the wheel start to turn. They learn about technology in the environment, for example, pretending to use old mobile telephones and following actions to nursery rhyme videos.
