This provision is good
The quality of teaching is consistently good. The childminder effectively supports children's development in their learning. Children can move between the indoors and outdoors. This facilitates their preferred learning styles and interests and contributes to the good progress they make. The childminder uses her assessment monitoring and planning, alongside good teaching strategies, to very good effect. She motivates children to learn and progress well. Children form exceptionally close bonds with the childminder. They are extremely happy and demonstrate that they feel safe in the childminder's care. Children flourish, develop confidence and display significantly high levels of self-esteem. Children's behaviour is superb. The childminder uses her excellent skills to model kindness and shows great respect for others and the environments. She helps children to develop an extremely clear understanding of how to recognise and cope with their

own feelings and emotions. The childminder is vigilant around safety. Children are well supervised at all times and measures are in place to minimise risks within the home. Children play and learn in a safe environment.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not give children enough opportunities to support their knowledge and understanding of everyday technology.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children playing indoors and outdoors. The inspector discussed safeguarding practices with the childminder. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's learning records, policies and procedures, and the childminder's methods for self-evaluation. The inspector took account of the views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of the signs that would cause her concern about a child's welfare and of the processes to follow. She keeps her safeguarding knowledge current. For example, the childminder knows how to identify children who may be at risk from extreme behaviours or views. This helps to keep children safe from harm. Self-evaluation is successful. The childminder identifies areas of weakness and sets targets for improvement, such as through attending training and completing online research. This helps develop the quality of the provision and provide better outcomes for children. The childminder forms exceptionally strong relationships with parents, actively involving them in their children's learning from the start.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans around the children's interests and includes various topics that capture their interest. She works hard to make learning enjoyable and provides a good range of mathematical and literacy activities, which the children enjoy. Children develop their small-muscle skills in preparation for their early writing. For example, they enjoy manipulating play dough and using a variety of different cutters and tools. The childminder supports children's ongoing progress well. She builds their mathematical development effectively. For example, the childminder encourages children to recognise numbers as they count the numbered stepping logs outdoors. The childminder successfully supports children's communication and language development, such as naming colours to build their vocabulary.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The vibrant and welcoming learning environment is of high quality, illustrated throughout with beautiful displays of children's work and helpful information for parents. Children learn to respect, tolerate and consider each other. They gain an excellent knowledge of the wider world. For example, children learned about the Japanese Star Festival and hung their wishes on bamboo plants. The childminder supports children's growth and development exceptionally well. For example, she engages them in highly meaningful conversations about making healthy choices. Children's independence and personal care skills are superbly supported. Even the youngest children are encouraged to try and do things by themselves, such as when they are able to find and put on their shoes before going outside.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn key skills they need for the next stage in their learning, including the move to school. Children are active learners who enjoy playing together and imaginatively. They have a very positive attitude about what they can achieve from a young age. Children are self-assured individuals who show positive attitudes towards their learning. Young children join in with songs and rhymes, and engage well when listening to stories.
