This provision is good
The childminder is successful in continually improving the service for children and their families. She frequently reflects on her own practice to identify gaps in her knowledge and areas she can improve. The childminder provides a good variety of resources indoors and outdoors. The visual environment and resources support children's interests and capture their natural curiosity as learners. The childminder understands individual children's learning styles and plans activities she knows they will enjoy. The childminder values what parents know about their children's development. She uses this information, and her own assessments of children's development during the early stages of care, to devise focused planning for individual learning. All children are making strong progress. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder has developed a variety of ways of communicating with parents to keep them fully informed about all aspects of the

service she provides. The childminder successfully promotes children's health and safety. She is knowledgeable about procedures for keeping them safe from harm and neglect. The childminder supports children to begin to understand how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not take opportunities to support younger children's language development, such as helping them to put two words together to form simple sentences.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities in the childminder's home and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's training certificates and evidence of her suitability. The inspector took account of the written views of parents. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is proactive in ensuring she is constantly aware of changes in legislation. She keeps her knowledge current, for example, by attending training and reading guidance and publications. The childminder also frequently shares good practice with other providers. All adults living in the childminder's home complete Disclosure and Barring Service checks. The childminder holds childcare qualifications that help to enhance the quality of the service she provides. She accurately monitors her own practice and the progress children make. Parents share extremely positive views about the provision. They describe the activities the childminder provides as exciting. One example of this is when the childminder took children on an outing to feed the ducks at the local pond in response to them showing an interest in the sounds that animals make.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides good standards of teaching. She delivers activities with enthusiasm and swiftly responds to contributions made by the children. The childminder engages the children very well in developing a love for books and reading. As she reads, she uses a range of voices and tones to differentiate between the different characters. The childminder increases the volume of her voice to create excitement and whispers to create anticipation in what is going to happen next. Children are helped to recall their past experiences. The childminder takes opportunities to engage children in conversations about making a cave in the garden to re-enact their favourite story.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder places a high emphasis on promoting inclusion. She encourages parents to share celebrations and cultural events that they participate in. The childminder recently supported children in understanding about a tradition in Poland that celebrates the equal rights of women. The childminder supports the children's emotional security well. She provides a warm approach towards them when they become frustrated or upset. The childminder invites them to hold a soft toy and have a cuddle when they are tired. Children are learning about foods that are good for our bodies. As they play, the childminder helps them to understand about energy. She explains and compares how a battery gives energy to toys and a banana gives energy to us. Children behave well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and fully engaged in their learning. They confidently make their needs and wishes known. Children are developing the necessary skills in readiness for school. Young children are learning how to make decisions for themselves and lead their own learning. Children have opportunities to make marks and create models from play dough.
