This provision is good
The childminder provides exciting experiences that help to engage children and support their learning well, overall. Children make ongoing good progress in their learning. The childminder effectively works in partnership with parents. She regularly exchanges information about their children's learning and development. This helps parents support their children's learning at home. Children behave well and learn to value one another. The childminder is a good role model and teaches children to be kind, polite and to learn to respect differences between themselves and others. The childminder regularly seeks further training and support for herself and her assistant to improve teaching and ensure positive outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder's outdoor area and resources do not help develop the learning for some children who enjoy playing outside. Occasionally, the childminder does not consistently make use of all opportunities to strengthen children's understanding of counting and calculating.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector looked at areas of the premises used for childminding and sampled relevant documentation, including children's records. The inspector observed children engaged in activities, including their interactions with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and spoke with children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector and the childminder jointly observed children at play and evaluated an activity together. The inspector spoke to parents and reviewed their feedback by sampling written documents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands the signs to be aware of and the procedures to follow if she has any concerns regarding children's welfare. She has completed training on the wider safeguarding issues. The childminder completes thorough risk assessments which help her to minimise any hazards to children. She evaluates her practice well. For example, since her last inspection, the childminder successfully includes the views of parents. The childminder regularly monitors the educational programmes. This helps her to identify and address any gaps in children's learning quickly and provide appropriate support.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The experienced childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and uses effective processes for assessing children's progress. She plans targeted activities that motivate children to learn and progress further, overall. For example, children enjoyed playing with the sand and water in the garden. The childminder, generally, extended their learning further by encouraging them to problem solve, such as when they were filling their buckets with the sand to make sandcastles. She helps to develop children's language and communication skills effectively so they become confident talkers. For example, children talk confidently to the childminder about their artwork and engage in meaningful discussions with her.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is kind, attentive and promptly responds to children's individual care needs. For example, she sensitively changes their nappies and talks to children in a calm and respectful manner. The childminder uses praise effectively to boost children's confidence and self-esteem. For example, she praises children when they peel their own fruit and independently put on their shoes and coats. This helps children to develop good levels of independence during everyday activities. The childminder actively helps children adopt healthy eating attitudes. For example, children know that fruit is healthy and good for them and learn to ask kindly when they want a snack. Children adopt good hygiene routines and have regular opportunities for outdoor activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress and gain useful skills for their future learning, including when they move on to school. Children show enthusiasm in all of their activities and are eager to learn. They persevere well to complete tasks, for example, when sorting and matching puzzles. They learn to listen, to ask questions and to express their needs. They develop good social skills, such as interacting with others confidently, and understand the needs of others.
