This provision is good
The childminder provides a loving environment, which helps children to become secure and happy quickly. Children's emotional well-being is a high priority for the childminder and they display a strong attachment towards her. The childminder has high expectations for herself and for the children in her care. She prioritises her own professional development, to ensure she has up-to- date knowledge and understanding. The childminder accurately monitors and assesses children's progress. She uses information that she gathers to precisely plan for their learning, and to quickly identify any gaps in their development, providing additional support if required. Partnerships with parents are strong. They value the professional attitude the childminder has towards her role in providing care for their children. The childminder has effective systems in place to share information and involve parents in all aspects of

their child's development and achievements.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently use all opportunities to help young children to become fully involved in exploratory and sensory activities. The childminder does not make effective use of the outdoor area to fully support children who prefer to learn in this environment.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas of the premises and the resources used for the childminding provision. She took account of parents' views and comments. The inspector sampled documentation, including suitability checks and records of children's development and progress. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation and her plans for future improvements. The inspector discussed the childminder's policy and procedures and her knowledge of safeguarding children. The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times, and observed the interactions between the childminder and the children and the impact this has on their learning and development.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder uses self-evaluation well to raise the quality of her provision constantly. She respects parents' views and children's interests, which helps to inform her of the areas for improvement and change. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is vigilant around the safeguarding of children and knows how to report any concerns if required. She has a good awareness of using effective risk assessments, to help minimise harm to children at home and when on outings. The childminder understands the importance of sharing information with other professionals, to provide a consistent approach to children's learning and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder recognises that children all develop at different rates. She gathers initial information about children's likes and dislikes, and uses this well to provide exciting activities and resources that fully support them in making their own choices. The childminder promotes children's early communication and language development successfully. For example, she repeats and introduces new words through discussions and songs during play times. The childminder is helping to nurture a love of books and stories. For example, she provides children with books that display bright and colourful pictures. She uses these well to help children to become inquisitive, such as encouraging them to turn the flaps on each page to see what is underneath.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model. She provides age-appropriate explanations to help children to start to understand about good behaviour and her expectations of them. The childminder has a strong focus on helping children to learn to share and play well with others. Children are confident and they demonstrate their growing awareness of their own preferences, as they choose to play with toys they have accessed themselves. They are starting to become more independent in their own self-care. For example, they try to put on their own shoes, and recognise their own belongings and those of their peers. The childminder places an importance on providing children with healthy home-cooked meals and snacks. They have many opportunities for physical activity and exercise to support their overall growth and development.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their initial starting points. They eagerly explore the world around them. Children benefit from many opportunities to start to learn about similarities and differences between themselves and others, during regular outings in the community. They are starting to count everyday objects, such as the coloured cars, which helps to support their early mathematical awareness. They are ready for the next stage in their learning.
