This provision is good
The childminder uses observation and assessment successfully to inform the planning for children's future learning. Activities are challenging and interesting, and children are motivated to play, learn and make good progress. The childminder skilfully interacts with children to help promote their thinking skills. For example, she purposefully asks questions to encourage children to think about what might happen next and gives them ample time to express their own ideas. The childminder forms strong, nurturing bonds with the children. Toddlers feel very happy, safe and reassured in her company. This helps to support their emotional well- being particularly well. The childminder accurately evaluates the strengths and areas for development in her practice. Feedback from others, including parents and children, is purposefully gathered and used to further improve outcomes for children. The childminder is committed to her role. She regularly updates her knowledge and

enhance opportunities for parents to be even more actively involved in supporting their children's learning and development at home, in order to help children make the best progress possible.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and interactions between the childminder and the children. The inspector spoke with the childminder and the children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents expressed in questionnaires and written testimonials. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including evidence of training and the suitability of household members, and discussed the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector observed an activity and jointly evaluated this with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is fully aware of the procedures for identifying and responding to any concerns that a child may be at risk of harm. She completes ongoing training and research which helps to deepen her knowledge of wider safeguarding issues and practice. Outcomes for children are closely monitored. For example, the childminder makes effective use of online software to collate her detailed assessments of children's learning and identify gaps in their progress. The childminder evaluates children's use of resources and often makes improvements to the provision to help extend their learning experiences. The childminder generally shares information effectively with parents and other early years providers. For example, parents enjoy reading about their child's progress in a meaningful daily diary kept by the childminder.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder promotes children's communication and language development very well. She models effective listening skills and purposefully introduces younger children to new words that relate to their play. For example, the childminder uses a variety of words to describe children's actions while they experiment with moving a rocket in different directions. A sharp focus is placed on encouraging children to strengthen their physical dexterity. For example, the childminder shows toddlers how to thread small hollow straws onto the ends of a pipe cleaner before encouraging them to have a go for themselves. The childminder makes good use of mathematical language in her interactions with children. She encourages young children to point to the basic shapes they see in books and they often enjoy singing rhymes with a counting theme.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works effectively in partnership with parents to support children's smooth transition into the setting. For example, she finds out about children's interests and routines at home and plans activities that reflect these from the start. Children's behaviour is positive. The childminder places emphasis on supporting children to develop a good understanding of right and wrong from a young age. For example, she is a good role model and offers children gentle guidance and praise when they are considerate of each other. The childminder plans regular opportunities for children to encounter new people and environments, such as visits to local parent and toddler groups. The childminder teaches children the importance of adopting good hygiene practices.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are working comfortably within the range of development typical for their age and develop a good foundation for future learning and school. They are very secure in their own abilities and are motivated to manage tasks independently. For example, toddlers express their preference to use a spoon to feed themselves. Children show resilience when faced with different social situations and tackle new experiences with great confidence. They show a strong interest in sharing books and often make connections with their real-life experiences.
