Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent understanding of her role in promoting children's safety and well-being. She is very well trained and has an up-to-date knowledge of child protection procedures. The childminder meticulously assesses and minimises any risks to children. She is qualified and attends regular childcare provider network meetings and training to support her first-class knowledge. The childminder is ambitious and identifies clear priorities to improve her already excellent setting. She is building a rain shelter to ensure that children can access the outdoors in all weathers. Additionally, she is developing menus with the children to further extend their excellent understanding of how food affects their bodies. Children's learning and development is methodically tracked, meticulously monitored and shared with parents. Together they swiftly and successfully help close any gaps in children's learning and development.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder is highly focused on children learning new skills and knowledge. For example, she skilfully helps children to consider which containers are the heaviest. She extends this further by successfully challenging children to predict which container is the heaviest or lightest. The effect of her teaching is immediate as children grasp the concept. Children articulately explain, 'the more you fill the container, the heavier it gets'. The childminder demonstrates her excellent understanding of babies as sensory learners. She sensitively introduces young babies to oats, they listen attentively and are expertly reassured as they finally put their hands out to grasp the oats. The childminder is extremely supportive and expertly builds babies' confidence to explore.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder is highly creative in organising her space to ensure that resources are easily accessible. This helps children develop their excellent independence and skills. Children behave impeccably. The childminder displays wonderful kindness and compassion as she encourages extremely positive behaviour. Older children demonstrate extreme gentleness towards babies as they show them shells. Older children demonstrate excellent knowledge of how to keep themselves safe when climbing steep steps. They know which foods will help them grow 'big and strong' and independently follow hygiene routines exceedingly well. Children's physical well-being is very strongly promoted.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are developing exceptional attitudes to learning and are extremely confident, motivated and self-assured. Children recognise the letters in their own name and accurately make simple calculations. Babies are highly motivated to actively explore. Children skilfully investigate and successfully experiment in making lighter and darker shades of colour using paint. Children's understanding of the world is extensive. They talk knowledgeably about lions, scorpions and fish. Children are excellent problem solvers who assertively share their wealth of ideas.
