This provision is good
The childminder builds positive and trusting relationships with parents, and children feel happy and safe in her care. She carefully settles the children and supports their emotional well-being. The childminder regularly assesses children's progress and plans to support their next steps. Children make good progress in their learning and development. Support for children's communication and language development is good and actively interwoven through all activities. The childminder uses frequent opportunities to support children to develop their individual skills. She role models language and repeats words to support the youngest children. Children are confident in the childminder's home. She reflects the children's current interests in the resources provided, and children are engrossed in their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not fully evaluate her provision to enable her to identify areas for further improvement. The childminder misses opportunities to help children to learn more about people in the community and similarities and differences.

Inspection activities
The inspector sampled the documentation, including policies, procedures and children's records. The inspector and the childminder jointly observed and evaluated an activity. The inspector spoke to a parent and took into account the written views of others. The inspector viewed the premises used for childminding. The inspector spoke to the children and the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of the procedures to follow if she is concerned about a child. She makes good use of safeguarding training opportunities to develop her knowledge. The childminder ensures that the range of experiences matches the children's ages and stages of development. For example, a range of resources, including everyday items, helps to support the children's strong interest in caring for babies. The childminder shares a daily diary with parents, detailing care routines and observations of children's learning. She also encourages parents to contribute to this.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are able to sustain interest for extended periods, appropriate to their age and stage of development. They are curious and keen to experience new activities, such as the 'teeth brushing' shaving foam activity. The children develop coordination and strength. The youngest children explore with their fingers to make patterns. They are encouraged to 'brush, brush, brush', and they respond enthusiastically. Children have many opportunities to hear mathematical language. For example, the childminder frequently models counting and uses a range of mathematical language during play, snack and mealtimes. She regularly assesses children's development, including completing the progress check at age two years. This helps her to match her provision to the children's individual learning needs. The childminder's understanding of child development is good and she accurately identifies where children are in their development and suggests next steps.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children and parents benefit from the childminder's warm and supportive approach. She helps children to settle in after a holiday by playing alongside and offering familiar experiences. The children enjoy their interactions with her. For example, they cuddle up for a story they have chosen and then choose to look at the book independently, carefully turning the pages. Children listen and follow instructions well. They show interest in each other and interact positively. Behaviour is very good. The environment is welcoming and offers a range of motivating learning opportunities indoors and outdoors. The childminder's relationships with parents are strong and their feedback is positive.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
The children are happy and motivated in their play. They are engaged and curious to try new things. Older children are encouraged in their writing and the childminder praises their efforts. The children are working within the range of development typical for their age and they are developing the skills and understanding needed to continue to progress well.
