Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to children and staff throughout the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint observation of a planned adult-led activity with the manager. The inspector held a meeting with the manager. She looked at relevant documentation, such as safeguarding policies and procedures, children's records and evidence of the suitability and qualifications of staff working in the nursery. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day of the inspection and written feedback obtained by the manager.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. Staff have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the referral procedures to follow should they have concerns about the health or welfare of a child. The manager coaches, mentors and guides staff superbly and carries out regular supervisory sessions to manage their performance. The highest priority is placed on continuous professional development, which is extremely well targeted to meet the individual learning needs of staff. The manager recognises that this is crucial in helping to ensure that the quality of teaching is consistently driven and maintained to an outstanding level. Exceptionally precise tracking of the progress of all children who attend the nursery helps to swiftly identify any gaps in their learning. All children are encouraged to reach their full potential and the achievement gap is closing rapidly. Parents are provided with a wealth of information and resources about children's progress and activities to help

They are highly skilled at following children's lead in play and adapting and re-shaping activities to extend their learning. This has an extremely positive impact on the development of their communication and language skills. Toddlers have a wonderful time when they explore and investigate cooked spaghetti and rice. They scoop up the mixture with spoons and fill containers, which helps them to develop excellent small-muscle skills and to learn using their senses. Staff make superb use of every opportunity to teach children mathematical concepts and help them to develop excellent early literacy skills in readiness for school. Children draw squares and talk about how many sides and corners they have and use the
