p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children have lots of fun as they independently move around the childminder's home. Children's personal development is at a good level. They interact confidently with adults and demonstrate strong self-awareness. For instance, children proudly point at the paintings they have completed. They benefit from fresh air and physical exercise while they play in the well-resourced garden. Children receive clear messages about healthy eating and enjoy freshly cooked, nutritious meals. Children's understanding of the world grows while they play with toys that reflect positive images of diversity. Children understand the rules of the setting and their behaviour is good.

Outcomes for children are good

Children in all age groups, including those in receipt of funded education, make good progress in their learning and development. Children have opportunities to express their creativity through artwork and they make marks that help them to practise early writing skills. Children are active learners who contribute to play activities. They choose songs and join in with singing at circle time. Children count during routines and name colours of bowls at lunchtime. They are confident and this enables them to take responsibility for some aspect of their personal hygiene. They develop a wide range of skills in preparation for their learning at nursery, and eventual move to school. They learn to share, take turns and have regard for the needs of other children.
