This provision is good
The childminder is committed to improving her good knowledge. She attends training courses and regularly meets with other providers and early years professionals to share and develop better practice. The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop, and she helps them all progress well. She plans a wide range of activities and experiences that supports children's interests and next steps in learning. The childminder is a positive role model for children. She helps children learn to manage their behaviour and share in their play. Children are confident and happy. They develop strong emotional bonds with the childminder. The childminder understands the importance of sharing information about children's learning with other settings they attend, such as pre-school. This helps promote continuity for children. The childminder evaluates her practice effectively. She identifies her strengths and also

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact that this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the children and childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documents, including children's information and learning records. The inspector took account of the views of parents provided through written testimonials.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has attended training and has a secure knowledge of her role and responsibility to protect children and keep them safe. She is also aware of how to identify risks from extreme behaviour and views. The childminder knows what to do if she has any concerns about a child's welfare or well- being. There is a range of suitable policies and procedures which are shared with parents. The monitoring of children's learning progress is effective to ensure they continue to make good progress. Parents provide positive written feedback. This shows clearly how pleased and impressed they are with their children's development and progress with the childminder.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are keen to learn. They take part in a good range of activities which the childminder plans according to their skills and interests. She knows how they learn and provides a good balance of learning experiences. For instance, she regularly takes children out into the local community, where they meet other people. They also get to use alternative physical play equipment, such as climbing frames and slides. The childminder supports children's language and mathematical development well. For example, when she joins in their play, she talks about what they are doing and they have fun as they play a sorting activity. The childminder observes children at play and notes down what their learning strengths are and where they need more support.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder ensures she obtains details about children's backgrounds, care routines and favourite activities to meet their individual needs. Children are encouraged to learn good manners and to recognise appropriate rules and boundaries. Daily outings to parks and local groups provide children with opportunities to develop their social skills and learn about their community. They also benefit from the fresh air and physical play. The childminder ensures children eat well and follow good hygiene routines. The development of children's independence skills is supported well, such as when they choose food for their snack and play activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in all areas of learning. They are enthusiastic learners and engage well in their chosen activity. Children watch and listen, and they follow simple instructions. They freely draw, make marks and enjoy listening to stories. Children are developing the skills they will need for their future learning and for school.
