This provision is good
The childminder is well qualified and demonstrates a strong commitment to continue to improve and strengthen her practice. She seeks advice from other professionals, undertakes training and researches good practice guidance, which she implements into her practice. She is a very good role model to her assistant and children. The childminder has created an extremely welcoming and stimulating learning environment for children, indoors and outdoors. She helps children to be active and motivated learners. Children continually explore and experiment using all of their senses. They initiate their own play and follow their own interest. Children's emotional well-being is supported very well. Children are very settled. They develop deep and secure attachments to the childminder and her assistant. Children demonstrate they feel very safe and secure. They welcome visitors and interact with them. Children are very familiar and relaxed during routines, such as eating and sleep
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder is less successful in helping children to think critically. On occasions, she does not focus on helping children to explore ideas, make links and notice patterns in their experiences. The childminder does not consistently focus on incorporating children's next steps in learning during daily activities to provide children with better opportunities to make the very highest rate of progress.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this had on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder takes all necessary steps to keep children safe and secure. The childminder undertakes robust recruitment and ongoing checks to make sure her assistant is suitable to work with children. She provides in-depth induction, training, support and coaching for her assistant. The childminder and her assistant keep up to date with child protection issues and procedures. They know what action they must take if there is a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder seeks the views of parents as part of her highly comprehensive self-evaluation process. Written statements from parents demonstrate the positive effect the childminder makes to children's care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder's assessment of children's achievements are accurate and show children are making good progress. The childminder and her assistant work remarkably well together to provide children with a wide variety of playful and enjoyable activities. They take children on regular trips, such as into the local community, parks and other childcare venues. The childminder plans topics and themes that help children to learn about their community and people who help us. The childminder continually encourages children to use and develop their emerging understanding of speech. For example, she encourages younger children to use words to describe what they want and what they are seeing, and older children recall experiences and take part in conversations. During play, the childminder and her assistant help children to develop their interest and understanding of number, shape, colour and size.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder works highly effectively with parents to ensure continuity in children's care. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder skilfully supports children to understand and learn to recognise their feelings and manage their behaviour. They play happily together and develop strong friendships with each other. Children enjoy being active and taking well-managed risks, such as climbing and gliding down slides. Children receive support and encouragement to be aware of their own and other children's safety.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for the next steps in their learning and for school when the time comes. Children are confident and independent in their surroundings. They are curious and show high levels of energy and fascination. They play imaginatively and creatively. They listen and follow instructions well. Older children sustain their interest and concentration well during activities, such as when matching board games.
