It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently gain the views of parents to help her build on her good systems for self-evaluation and further improve outcomes for children. Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises and viewed the resources. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of the adults living on the premises. The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took account of written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is clear about her role and responsibility to keep children safe. She knows what to do should she have any concerns for a child's welfare. The childminder places a high priority on keeping children safe. For example, she implements robust risk assessments which she regularly reviews. Children develop a good awareness of the safety procedures inside and outside the home. They respond positively to the childminder when she talks to them about sitting safely on chairs. The childminder evaluates her provision, including how she monitors children's progress, to ensure she maintains at least good standards and closes any gaps in their learning. She meets with other childminders to share good practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder helps to develop children's learning through a range of stimulating activities and use of good-quality toys that meet their individual needs. Children access resources independently, helping them to develop new interests and extend existing ones. They have fun playing with the shape sorter. The childminder introduces the names of shapes and colours and counts how many to extend their language and mathematical skills. She encourages children to keep trying different shapes, building their concentration and ability to persevere. Younger children actively explore their environment. They enthusiastically crawl and pull themselves up to stand using low-level furniture. Children enjoy drawing pictures and playing dominoes. They use their imaginative skills to pretend to cook in the role-play kitchen.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy their time with the childminder. They show great affection towards her when they spontaneously cuddle her in-between play. The childminder supports healthy lifestyles very well. For example, children plant vegetables in the garden and collect eggs from the chickens. The childminder teaches children the importance of washing their hands after playing with the dog. Children benefit from nutritious meals and daily exercise. They develop a good understanding of their local community and the wider world. For example, they regularly attend local groups where they take part in a variety of activities and learn to play cooperatively with others.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making consistent progress from their starting points. Children develop good control in using a range of tools and they enjoy exploring different materials. Children show they can follow instructions and are interested when the childminder explains different activities to them. Children learn to operate technology, such as exploring toys with buttons. They develop the key skills needed in preparation for the next stage in their learning and in readiness for school.
