This provision is good
The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. Children of all ages develop a strong bond with the childminder and settle quickly and comfortably in her care. They happily seek her company in their play or if they need a reassuring cuddle. The childminder is enthusiastic, friendly and makes learning enjoyable. She provides a welcoming, homely and well-resourced environment indoors and outside. Children are confident, motivated to play and explore, and learn well. The childminder uses good systems to monitor and assess children's development closely. She knows children's individual learning needs well and uses this information to plan enjoyable and meaningful activities to support children's good progress. The childminder values partnerships with parents and other settings. She offers good opportunities for them to share detailed information about children's well-being and

learning to support their ongoing development.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not developed opportunities for boys to engage in making marks. Although the childminder evaluates her practice well, she does not maximise opportunities to regularly seek and review the views of parents, and use this information to drive ongoing improvements even further.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children inside and outside. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including policies, risk assessments and children's records. The inspector reviewed the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a robust knowledge and understanding of her role in keeping children safe and secure. She knows the procedures to follow should she be concerned about a child. The childminder helps children learn to keep themselves safe. She supervises children effectively and meets their needs well. The childminder attends regular training and this promotes improvement to the quality of practice. Following training, she recognises and plans for the different ways that children learn and she has developed her assessment process accordingly. The childminder uses detailed observations and assessments to check the progress of children and implements focused plans for what they need to learn next.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder adapts her teaching well to offer children challenges that match their interests and capabilities. Children demonstrate a good understanding and concentration as they find pictures of 'a red bird' and 'a yellow lion'. The childminder brings stories to life with her expressive reading and good use of resources. This encourages children to listen and involves them well in the story. Children join in with different animal noises and familiar phrases. The childminder encourages children to think by asking questions about the story. She models counting for children to hear and learn. Boys confidently use technology in their play. For example, they use remote-controlled diggers to role play being on the farm. Girls develop good early writing skills. They draw pictures and talk to the childminder about what they have drawn.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good. The childminder praises the children's achievements and encourages their confidence well to develop new skills, for example, using a scooter or riding a bicycle. The childminder ensures children gain a good understanding of healthy lifestyles and provides opportunities for regular exercise in the garden and on the farm. Children develop a good understanding of the importance of a balanced diet and are encouraged to try fruits and vegetables. Children enjoy collecting eggs from the chickens and are keen to see how the vegetables they have planted are growing on the farm, making sure they have enough water to grow.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They enjoy doing things for themselves and, using their imagination, they make up their own games. Children happily play and talk with the childminder and other children. Boys count and recognise different sizes and colours when they solve problems as they build towers from coloured blocks. Girls listen attentively to others and are confident to share their views and opinions. They are active learners and have fun exploring, using all their senses. All children develop the skills and attitudes they need so that they are ready for school.
