This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to investigate concerns reported by the police on 3 August 2017. These related to risks due to the locality of the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
This inspection was carried out under the Care Standards Act 2000.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The registered manager, the responsible individual and the independent visitor attended a meeting at the home, with the inspector, to discuss the location of the home and any risk that this presented to children. The inspector and the responsible individual considered the location of the home and its proximity to other services and homes in the community. The inspector reviewed children’s case records, including risk assessments, care planning and matching reports. In addition, the inspector reviewed risk assessments of the locality of the home and considered how staff keep children safe in the wider community. An Inspector made telephone calls to the police, probation and other local services.
p.2
This monitoring visit
An Ofsted inspector last visited this home at a registration visit on 5 April 2017. Ofsted registered the provider on 4 May 2017, following receipt of all the necessary and required checks. The home is due for its first inspection prior to 1 April 2018 and hence has not yet had a full inspection this inspection year.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The home is working well with the children placed there. The home’s manager is organised, efficient and understands the risks associated with the children placed.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Although this is a new registration, the responsible individual and manager previously ran another home. One of their strengths is their ability to network with professionals and work in partnership.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The location assessment did not raise any concerns about the position of the home or any increased risks for children living in this area. The reported concerns and this monitoring visit did not suggest that children are at any increased risk in the local community since registration was agreed. Since opening, there have been no reported incidents, nor threats associated with the locality of the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers at this home want to work with the regulator and most importantly want to keep children safe.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Having revisited the location of the home within the community, combined with the risk assessments and work with the children, I do not see any risk that is unmanageable or should lead to any further actions from the regulator.
p.2
