This provision is good
Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder works closely with parents by sharing information regularly about children's care and development. This helps to promote children's well-being and learning at home and in the setting. Children make good progress. The childminder is very aware of the different ways that children learn. Children who prefer to play and learn outside have good access to the well-resourced garden to enhance their development. The childminder promotes children's language development well. She talks with children about what she and they are doing to help them link words to actions and follow instructions. She encourages babies' vocalisations and helps them begin to form words. The childminder has developed close, caring relationships with the children in her care. She provides a warm, secure and nurturing environment, so children quickly settle and feel secure.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the childminder's interactions. The inspector had discussions with the childminder and children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of adults in the home. The inspector reviewed an activity with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection issues. She knows how to report any concerns about children's welfare or if they are at risk from extreme views or behaviour. The childminder carries out risk assessments, helping to minimise any potential hazards. The childminder reviews her practice regularly and, in general, sets herself clear targets to achieve. Children's and parents' views are welcomed to help her evaluate and improve her provision. Secure systems are in place to monitor children's development. These help the childminder to identify any gaps in children's learning so that steps can be taken to address them.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gathers information from parents when children first start about what they can do. She uses this information, along with her own observations, to accurately identify children's starting points. This helps her target learning from the very beginning. The childminder effectively plans for each child's individual next steps in learning and follows their interests well. Children are motivated to learn. The childminder joins in with children's play, sitting on the floor and engaging them through positive interactions. Children begin to enjoy books and explore textures as they cuddle up and look at them with the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has high expectations of all children. She helps them learn to respect each other and their environment. Children develop a sense of belonging, for example, their artwork and photographs are displayed. Children are well behaved. They learn how to manage their feelings and cooperate with others as they play. One way the childminder does this is by providing duplicate resources so that toddlers can play alongside one another. There is a strong emphasis on developing independence as children learn to try to do things for themselves. For example, they access resources freely and learn to wash their own hands. Children develop a good understanding of a healthy and safe lifestyle through daily routines and activities. They have healthy meals and snacks and drinks are readily available for them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children enjoy exploring and show an interest in the activities as they press buttons on electronic toys repeatedly to see what happens. They explore sounds and develop their physical skills as they hit and shake musical instruments and move to rhythms. Children enjoy outdoor play and enjoy making marks in sand. Children are effectively developing the skills that they need in preparation for nursery or school.
