The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is proactive in ensuring she is constantly aware of changes in legislation, she keeps her knowledge current, for example, by reading guidance and publications. All adults living in the childminder's home complete Disclosure and Barring Service checks. The childminder accurately reflects and monitors all aspects of her provision, and immediate action is taken to address areas for further improvement. For example, the childminder swiftly identifies gaps in her resources through her highly accurate observations of children's spontaneous interests. The childminder provides consistently high standards of teaching. Her delivery of a wonderful variety of activities is calm and extremely engaging. Frequent, detailed observations and assessments of the children's learning are undertaken, support and activities for the next steps in children's learning are exceptionally well planned. Children have excellent opportunities to develop their language and communication skills. The childminder sensitively corrects the children if they confuse two words by blending them together. For example, when young children describe a creature as a 'turtledile' the childminder explains the difference by introducing language they will understand.

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children's emotional security is given high priority. The childminder's own child shows an abundance of kindness to the childminded children. Furthermore, the childminder is very warm and offers comfort and cuddles to young children who become shy on the arrival of the inspector. Children's behaviour is excellent. The childminder takes every opportunity to remind children what is expected of them. For example, children are reminded how to take care of the environment by putting small disused pieces of paper straight into the waste bin. The childminder praises the children with great enthusiasm for a job well done. This praise significantly contributes to children's growing self-esteem and confidence. Children participate in a wealth of outdoor play that promotes their physical skills.

p.3

Children are making extremely strong progress in all areas of their development. They are highly motivated, confident and articulate individuals who really enjoy their learning.
