This provision is good
Children are confident and happy. They develop a strong bond with the childminder. The childminder is calm and sensitively helps children to learn. For example, she supports them to share, take turns and consider the needs of their friends. The childminder provides a broad range of activities that challenge children well. Children make good progress from their starting points. Children follow their own interests and are motivated to learn. They move confidently around the play areas and make independent choices from the good range of play resources available. Children behave well. They are kind and learn to respect others. Children receive frequent praise and encouragement from the childminder for their contributions and achievements. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder shares regular information about children's achievements and supports parents to continue children's learning at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The monitoring of children's progress is not sharply focused to ensure all gaps in learning are identified even more swiftly. Although the childminder evaluates some areas of her provision well, the programme of professional development does not yet focus on raising the quality of her teaching practice to the highest level.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

monitor children's progress even more precisely to identify and address any emerging gaps in learning at the earliest stage extend the programme of professional development, targeting ways to raise the quality of teaching to an even higher level.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector sampled the childminder's documentation and discussed her knowledge of the requirements of the early years foundation stage. The inspector observed the management of children's care routines. The inspector took account of the views of parents through discussion and reading written documentation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to identify and report any concerns she has about children's welfare. She accesses training to ensure her knowledge of safeguarding is current. Partnerships with other settings that children attend are good. Information is shared between the childminder, parents and practitioners to help provide continuity in children's care and learning. The childminder understands her responsibility to inform Ofsted of any changes, such as alterations to the premises.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses good teaching skills and interacts well with children to support their learning. She is led by what the children want to do and supports their play well, readily moving to other activities in response to their changing interests. For example, children get involved in role play with the childminder. She supports their learning of numbers as they count candles on a toy cake and cut it up into equal pieces. The childminder builds on their interest further, for example, by providing buggies so that they can pretend to take their babies shopping for more ingredients. The children engage enthusiastically in the activity as they use play money to buy their shopping and remind each other to cross the road safely.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are extremely happy and settle well. The childminder is a positive role model for children and helps them to learn good values and positive attitudes. Children develop close emotional attachments to the childminder and readily invite her to join in their play. The childminder sets clear and consistent boundaries, and children respond well to the childminder's high expectations. Children are encouraged to follow good hygiene routines and they have many opportunities to be physically active. For example, they wash their hands at appropriate times during the day and they enjoy daily trips to the park or the nearby soft-play centre.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They gain the skills they need for the next stage in their learning and their eventual move on to school. Younger children develop their language well and remain focused in activities. For example, they play with small figures at the play garage and chat to one another as they roll cars down a track. Older children develop good listening skills and show enthusiasm and interest in role play. They are beginning to demonstrate early counting skills and recognise some shapes and colours.
