This provision is good
The childminder is caring and attentive. She develops close bonds and attachments with the children in her care. The childminder ensures that the settling-in routines are tailored to support children well from the start. The childminder actively promotes children's independence and encourages them to do things for themselves. Older children are confident to express their ideas, making decisions and shaping their own learning through their play. Children benefit from the effective partnerships the childminder has established with their parents. She supports parents with ideas about how they can enrich their children's learning experiences at home. Parents regularly share a wealth of information and are complimentary about the childminder and the care and teaching that she provides. The childminder actively evaluates the care and education she provides. She is enthusiastic and wants the best for children in her care. The childminder identifies the

It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasions, the childminder does not help children to extend and build on their understanding of shapes and colours. The childminder does not always make effective use of daily routines to increase children's awareness of good hygiene practices.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through discussion and written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection. She places high regard to children's security and safety. Visual checks on the premises are completed each day to enable the childminder to identify and minimise any potential risks or hazards. The childminder makes good use of information from parents to help her assess children's starting points. She identifies gaps in their learning from an early point and takes effective steps to address them. The childminder fully understands the importance of working in partnership with other early years settings that children attend. This helps to ensure continuity of care and learning for all children. The childminder is well qualified. She makes good use of opportunities to continually develop her skills and knowledge so that outcomes for children are good.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder accurately assesses the progress children make in all aspects of their learning. She uses this information to plan for children's future learning. The childminder joins in with children's play and encourages them effectively to learn, resulting in the children being motivated and eager to take part in activities. Babies use a variety of interactive resources and show enjoyment as they press buttons which make the lights flash and music play. Children learn key skills in literacy. They engage in singing activities and story times. The childminder actively promotes children's natural curiosity. She provides a good selection of fresh food and encourages children to make their own pizza as they choose what selection of toppings they would like to try.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a enjoyable and relaxed environment where children enjoy the continuous support and reassurance they receive from her. This helps them to feel safe and secure and supports them in becoming increasingly confident and independent. The childminder promotes good behaviour. Gentle reminders and appropriate strategies based on each child's age and stage of maturity helps children begin to understand that there are rules and boundaries that help to keep them safe. Children have regular opportunities to participate in physical play as they use the garden and visit local parks. This enables them to be active, energetic and to take suitable risks throughout their activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are working comfortably within the range of development typical for their age. Children's communication and language skills are developing well. They readily share their ideas and learn to express themselves from an early age. Babies are gaining skills in their physical capabilities as they are given the space and encouragement to build up their confidence. Children learn to share, take turns, help with tasks and listen carefully to the childminder. They display growing independence and are gaining the skills and attitudes needed for their future learning, including the move on to school.
