This provision is good
The childminder provides a stimulating environment with a good range of resources which supports children's learning. Children engage well, and are motivated and eager to learn. They make good progress in their development. Children form strong attachments with the childminder. They are confident, happy and have a positive sense of belonging. The childminder meets children's emotional needs well. Children behave well. The childminder teaches children to be considerate, recognises their achievements and encourages them to take turns. Children display good levels of confidence and are cooperative. The childminder develops effective partnerships with parents, working together to meet each child's care and learning needs through a consistent approach. The childminder knows how to keep children safe. She understands her responsibility to report concerns to protect children's safety and well-being.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder's observations and planning for children's future learning is not as precise as possible, to build further on their already good progress. At times, the childminder does not make the best possible use of opportunities to extend children's number, counting and problem-solving skills, to offer greater mathematical challenges.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the impact of teaching on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and talked with children. The inspector looked at a selection of documentation. The inspector discussed with the childminder self-evaluation and observations of the children's play, learning and progress, and evaluated an activity with her. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers, provided in their written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder successfully evaluates and reviews her practice, and monitors the children's progress well overall. For example, she quickly changes assessment processes to help identify any gaps in the children's learning that need further support. Since the last inspection, the childminder has provided more print in her home to help children begin to recognise letters and to develop their literacy skills. She has introduced parent questionnaires to gain feedback about her practice. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps her practice up to date. For example, she attends training and reads literature to strengthen her good knowledge about child protection procedures. She identifies future improvements to benefit the outcomes for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides enjoyable, stimulating activities, which support the children's learning and interests well. For example, children confidently use tools and make decisions in their play. The childminder skilfully engages and supports children's increasing vocabulary. She helps them to hear the correct pronunciation and encourages them to share their ideas and experiences. Children confidently engage and use language well. The childminder extends children's play well, for example, she introduces more resources to capture their imagination. They explore textures and marks, and experiment with materials as they mix these together.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have an enthusiasm for physical exercise and fresh air. They demonstrate good physical skills on the trampoline and practise new ones. They eagerly roll and throw a ball, and run around the garden. Children engage in safe practices and demonstrate a good understanding of the childminder's procedures. For example, they fasten the zip on the safety netting before bouncing on the trampoline, participate in road safety practices, and are familiar with the childminder's safety rules. Children demonstrate increasing independence with their personal care. They use the toilet, and recognise when they need a drink.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain good skills in preparation for their future learning and for school. They are keen and enthusiastic learners. For example, they experiment with the water, and fill and empty containers, and manipulate the dough as they creatively make 'food for the barbecue'. They enjoy using their imagination and show an interest in numbers. For instance, they count the skittles, and make pretend cups of tea and wash up. They are sociable, happy and use language well to express their individual needs.
