This provision is good
The childminder is committed to providing a warm and caring environment for children. She evaluates her provision continuously, and liaises well with other settings that children attend, to ensure that she meets the individual needs of children. Children's learning is well supported by the childminder. For example, she helps them to learn about the things that interest them, such as transport, by taking them to museums and other places of interest. Children are proud of their achievements. For instance, when they successfully cut their fruit for snack time, they excitedly talk about how they have done this. The childminder provides good support to enable children to understand behaviour expectations and so children share and play appropriately with others. Children are happy and comfortable, and they confidently choose where to play. They enjoy singing special songs, such as a 'tidy up' song, as they learn about looking after
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently reinforce children's growing understanding of the importance of good hygiene procedures. The childminder sometimes does not make the best use of impromptu opportunities to extend children's learning about mathematics.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed care and teaching practices, indoors and outdoors. The inspector spoke to children and took account of their views. The inspector viewed testimonials from parents and took account of the views expressed. The inspector discussed with the childminder how she manages her provision. The inspector viewed a range of relevant documentation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder uses risk assessments effectively to help her provide a safe environment for children. She teaches children to be aware of risks. For example, children know that spills need to be cleaned promptly and they ask for a cloth when water is spilled. The childminder evaluates her provision well. For instance, she identified the need to create space and to keep resources fresh and interesting, and so she now makes good use of a toy library. Children talk animatedly about the toys they have chosen from the toy library. Professional development is important to the childminder. She has attended training to support her in providing more outdoor learning opportunities. She now takes children to safe open spaces where they can explore freely and learn more about the natural world. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of wider safeguarding issues and knows the actions to take if she has concerns.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children and monitors their individual progress well. This enables her to provide appropriate teaching for each child. For example, she uses more complex vocabulary with children who have advanced language skills for their age. The childminder knows that new activities keep children motivated and eager to learn. For instance, children are excited by their discoveries as they dig in sand to find hidden toy creatures and shells, and they talk enthusiastically about their finds. The childminder uses consistent strategies to teach younger children about being kind and caring to others and so children behave well.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder knows that continuity of care is important for children and so she establishes effective partnerships with parents. She gathers information from them well to identify children's starting points. For example, she finds out what children enjoy and what they find challenging. She exchanges information daily, and holds review meetings every three months, because she knows that this keeps her aware of any problems children may be experiencing and their current interests. The childminder prepares children well for the next stage of their learning. For example, she knows when children are moving towards toilet training and encourages them to think about whether their nappies need changing.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy, comfortable and constantly busy. They willingly share and take turns. For instance, they take turns to choose props from the song box and sing together happily. Children enjoy using a book of photographs of toys as they make choices about with what to play. They talk enthusiastically about their choices and help to find the toys they have chosen. Children know that they can come and go from activities, such as singing and story time, and their attention span is developing well, relative to their ages.
