This provision is good
The childminder has established good relationships with parents. She keeps them well informed of their children's progress and supports their learning at home effectively. For example, children enjoy taking home books and other engaging resources to share with parents. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills successfully. Babies listen attentively, follow instructions well and communicate with sounds and gestures. Older children answer questions, express their ideas clearly and join in with conversations. The childminder makes accurate assessments of children's progress and plans effectively for their individual learning needs. Children make good progress from their starting points and develop a good range of skills to support their future learning. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles effectively. Children learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, such as eating nutritious food and being active.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not identified some inconsistencies in her teaching to help her raise the quality of her practice to the highest level. The childminder overlooks some opportunities to help children use their understanding of number and shape to extend their mathematical skills further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection and carried out a joint evaluation of the teaching and learning with the childminder. The inspector viewed the areas of the childminder's home used by children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as policies and children's records. The inspector took account of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has developed effective relationships with other providers to support continuity in children's care and learning. She reviews the service she provides well and seeks feedback from parents and children to decide on areas for further improvement. The childminder is committed to continuing her professional development. For example, recent training helped her to extend her understanding of how to support children's early reading skills. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of her responsibilities to keep children safe and the procedures to follow should she need to report any concerns about a child's well-being. She makes good use of safety checks to minimise any potential risks to children, who are always supervised, and logs incidents.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are encouraged to make links with their own experiences and develop their thinking skills. They benefit from opportunities to solve problems independently, investigate and test out their ideas. For instance, they persevere as they try to find out how to operate a toy to make sound and explore the effects of water as it travels through pipes and different containers. The childminder plans an interesting range of activities to stimulate children's imaginations. Children enjoy playing musical instruments with their friends and explore the effects created as they mix paint and use this to make marks on a range of textured surfaces, such as logs and stones.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder addresses children's emotional security skilfully. For instance, children respond well to praise given and the childminder takes time to help new children settle. She works closely with parents to learn about children's individual needs. The childminder is warm, nurturing and a positive role model. She manages children's behaviour effectively and they learn to share, take turns and recognise the needs of others. Children learn about different traditions and communities beyond their experiences. The childminder encourages children's independence well to help them become confident in their own abilities. Children learn to manage their personal needs and are keen to help with everyday tasks, such as collecting equipment at mealtimes.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children take part in a wide range of interesting activities that they enjoy. They explore confidently and make decisions as they lead their own play. Children are motivated to learn, ask questions and demonstrate natural curiosity. They progress well with their physical development. For example, they use tools, such as long fishing nets, to scoop objects from water. They develop their understanding of the natural world and learn about plants and animals as they explore the local environment.
