This provision is good
The childminder is a reflective practitioner. She regularly consults with parents and children to ensure that their views are taken into account when considering ways in which to develop her practice further. The childminder works well with other settings that children attend. This helps to ensure a joint approach to children's care and learning. Children's early language development, including those who speak English as an additional language, is exceptionally well supported by the childminder. She engages in interesting conversations with children, skilfully introducing new words to extend their vocabulary. Children make good progress. The childminder carefully observes children as they play, assessing their current developmental stage. This helps her to identify next steps in their learning and ensure any gaps are quickly closed. Children behave well. The childminder uses a good range of strategies to help children

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke with children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated. She works extremely hard to ensure that the needs of children are met at all times. The childminder has attended some training offered by her local authority. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of what to do if she has any concerns over the welfare of a child. She has an in-depth understanding about the signs to look for that might lead to a concern about a child. The childminder uses an online programme to record the progress that children are making. This helps to ensure that parents are well informed about the activities that their children enjoy at the setting. In addition, parents are kept up to date about their children's current developmental stages. Parents are complimentary about the care and learning opportunities offered by the childminder and welcome ideas to further their children's learning at home.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a very good understanding of how children learn through play. She provides a wide range of activities, both inside and outdoors which children enjoy. Children delight in picking up pebbles with tweezers and placing them in the appropriately numbered cup. This helps to develop their small-muscle skills and supports early mathematical development. The childminder provides opportunities that support children's current interests. Children talk to visitors about the flowers in the garden that the bees enjoy feeding from. They confidently outline the relationship between bees and honey. Children learn about shape, size and measurement. They compare the differences in their hand sizes as they make handprints with different coloured paints in the garden.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a welcoming and well-organised environment for children. Children settle quickly with the childminder and form secure attachments to her. The childminder gains information from parents about their children's care needs and routines. She ensures that these are followed at all times. The childminder helps children to become independent and to develop a healthy lifestyle. For example, children spend time choosing, identifying and cutting fruit to make a smoothie for their morning snack. Children have access to regular exercise. They have fun rolling down banks in the nearby park and participating in gymnastic events at local groups. Children have lots of opportunities to learn about the wider world and to develop social skills during regular outings in the community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children, including those who have English as an additional language, are making good progress from their initial starting point. Children are confident, motivated and engaged in their play. They are developing a positive attitude towards learning and are developing good social skills. Children are very well prepared for the next stage in their learning and eventual move on to school.
