This provision is good
The childminder offers children a home-from-home environment. She works closely with parents to ensure that she supports children well with the move from their home to her setting. They have good relationships with the childminder and her assistants. The childminder shows a strong drive to continue to broaden her childcare knowledge and share this with her assistants. For example, she uses research and has discussions with her assistants to help them to build on their teaching skills, which extend outcomes for children. Children's behaviour is good and they understand the boundaries and kindness rules. The childminder gives clear guidance to children about expected behaviour. She is a positive role model for children. The childminder has very close relationships with children. She is calm, kind and caring and provides a nurturing environment for children to play and learn. Overall, children make good progress from their starting points.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not make toys easily accessible for children. They cannot easily make choices about their play to explore and fully develop their imaginations and play independently. When planning activities, the childminder does not fully consider the differing needs of the younger and older children to involve them all.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector took into account the views of parents through written testimonials. The inspector observed activities and the interactions between the childminder and the children in the setting. The inspector looked at a sample of documentation, including the childminder's policies and the children's learning records. The inspector spoke with children, the childminder and her assistants at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have a thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and the steps to take to protect children from harm. They identify and minimise potential risks to children. For example, they carry out regular risk assessments within the childminder's home and garden. The childminder offers good-quality early education for children who attend. She has successfully acted upon recommendations set at the last inspection to improve her setting. The childminder is committed to developing her service. She evaluates her practice with her assistants and has a clear understanding of her strengths and the areas she would further develop.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder shares information frequently with parents about children's achievements. She gains important information from parents about what children enjoy at home, which helps her and her assistants to support each child's learning further. The childminder and her assistants observe and assess children's learning and use this information effectively to plan for their next steps. They support children's communication, language and counting skills well. For example, they talked and sang to young children as they played, naming objects, counting and repeating words. They used story time to introduce children to new vocabulary. The childminder encourages children to work out how things operate. For example, children were delighted to discover the sounds they could make when they pushed buttons and pulled levers on a toy.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children of all ages are confident and become active and curious learners. New children settle quickly and are very confident in their new provision. Children develop and challenge themselves physically in a variety of ways. For example, they enjoy modelling with dough and climbing on the slides. Children learn about people and communities. For example, they enjoy taking part in creative activities for Jewish festivals. The childminder supports children's good health well. For example, she follows careful routines for changing nappies to help reduce the risk of cross-contamination. She helps children learn to keep themselves safe, such as taking part in regular fire drills. Children enjoy playing outside every day and benefit from fresh air and exercise.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children acquire the skills they need for their move on to nursery or school. They grow in confidence and are becoming more independent. For example, they learn to manage their personal hygiene and learn to put on their coats and shoes. Children develop their counting and literacy skills as they play. They listen carefully, follow instructions and develop their understanding of sharing and taking turns with their favourite resources.
