This provision is good
Partnerships with parents and carers are strong. Staff use various ways to engage and involve them effectively in the nursery and children's learning. Parents value the bonds that staff have with their children. They appreciate the information they receive to help support the good-quality, consistent care their children receive. The manager monitors individual children's progress, and that of different groups of children, effectively, to close any emerging gaps in their learning. For example, an increased focus on supporting children's understanding of mathematical concepts has been successful. Children enjoy recognising numbers and comparing size, volume and height within their learning and play experiences. Staff make the most of opportunities to build on children's independence skills well. Children enjoy serving their own snack and getting themselves ready for the outdoor environment. All children make good progress in their learning and development from their starting
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, staff do not monitor children washing their hands well enough to make sure that this practice is consistently effective. Staff do not consistently make the best use of group sessions to encourage younger children to remain fully engaged and interested.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and children's activities, completed a joint observation with the manager and held discussions about children's progress and learning. The inspector held conversations with the manager, staff and children throughout the inspection. The inspector checked evidence of staff's suitability checks and their qualifications, and sampled relevant policies and procedures. The inspector took into account the views of the parents during the inspection. The inspector observed staff's planning and the children's assessment records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The manager continually improves the quality of staff's practice. For example, she organises relevant training and ongoing individual support. She accurately evaluates the provision. The manager and staff take the views of parents, staff and children into consideration to help identify areas for further improvement. For example, the range of natural tools and resources to extend the children's understanding of the world in the outdoor play space has significantly increased. The manager uses additional funding well to meet the needs of individual children effectively. Safeguarding is effective. All staff keep their safeguarding knowledge up to date and are fully aware of current legislation. They understand their role in child protection and know the reporting process to follow if they have concerns about a child's welfare.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff have a good knowledge and understanding of how children learn and develop. They use meaningful observations to plan activities based on the children's interests. For instance, children enjoy creatively exploring paint with a range of different tools. Staff challenge children to think for themselves throughout their experiences. For instance, they challenge them to think about the colours they wish to create by mixing the paints. Staff enhance children's learning effectively. For instance, staff introduced a colour wheel to help children understand what colours they needed to mix to create their desired shades of paint.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Relationships between staff and children are sensitive and responsive. Staff build on children's confidence and sense of belonging well. For example, they constantly praise children for their achievements. Staff help children to develop their growing awareness of healthy eating. For example, they provide a choice of nutritious snacks and engage children in conversations about healthy food choices. Children enjoy building on their physical skills. For example, they access an activity table where they are encouraged to transport small objects with tweezers and use small spray bottles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop a good understanding of diversity beyond their immediate family. For example, they enjoy exploring the environment which is rich in positive cultural images and dual-language text, including books and role-play resources. Children develop the skills needed for their future learning and move to school. For example, they are encouraged to give meanings to the marks they make as well as identifying and writing their own names. Children enjoy a familiar routine and show respect and care for their nursery environment. For instance, they participate with motivation in routine tidy-up times to their familiar tune and carefully return the toys to the right places.
