Children are happy and content in the childminder's care. They play cooperatively together and enjoy each other's company. Older children enjoy finding toys and playing with the younger children. The childminder plans a wide range of activities which meet children's learning needs effectively and they enjoy. She regularly arranges trips to local parks, farms and adventure playgrounds. Children comment that they enjoy their time with the childminder and that they have lots of fun when they are with her. The childminder is dedicated and hard working. She works hard to continuously develop her practice. She keeps up to date with new legislation and changes in requirements appropriately. are more confident and outgoing since attending regularly.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
During some adult-led activities, the childminder does not always give children enough opportunities to follow their own interests or explore their own creativity further. Although teaching is good overall, occasionally the childminder does not take account of how younger children learn best during planned activities.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of suitability of adults living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents by reading written testimonials.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a very good knowledge of the procedures to follow in the event of a concern about a child. She has recently completed online safeguarding courses to further develop her knowledge. The childminder provides a safe environment for children to play in. She is aware of any risks and minimises these effectively. The childminder has a reflective approach to her work. She recognises the positive impact that working with and sharing ideas with other childminders has on her teaching and confidence. The childminder continues to try different ways to work effectively in partnerships with other settings and schools. She talks to staff at the local pre-school about the different topics that children are learning about, to support consistency.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children she cares for well. Observation and assessment is effective and accurate. The childminder identifies children's starting points successfully, next steps and interests, and provides activities to help children make good progress. She carefully monitors children's progress to ensure that no one falls behind. Children are motivated and eager to learn. They have independent access to a wide range of age- appropriate resources and equipment. Children enjoy re-creating characters from their favourite fairy tale. They use their small-physical skills to cut, stick and colour, talking to each other as they work. The childminder models how to use scissors correctly and encourages children to work carefully and thoughtfully.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a warm and loving family environment for children. She welcomes children warmly and everyone feels at home. Children learn to eat a healthy and balanced diet while they are with the childminder. She encourages them to 'have a go' and try new fruit and vegetables that are unfamiliar to them. Children have ample opportunity to play outdoors and meet up and be sociable with their peers at toddler and singing groups. Children learn to behave well. The childminder is an excellent role model and praises children often. This helps them gain confidence and positive self-esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in their learning and development. They develop a good range of skills in readiness for their eventual move on to school. Children achieve well, within the typical range of expected development for their ages. Children work together collaboratively to join pieces of a large floor puzzle. Younger children identify and name the animals that they notice on the puzzle. Older children talk to each other about turning the pieces around to fit in the puzzle correctly and complete the picture.
