This provision is good
The childminder is highly effective at supporting individual children's needs. She works closely with parents to ensure consistency and continuity for children's care and learning. Children demonstrate high levels of well-being. The childminder consistently responds positively to them, which helps them feel valued and emotionally secure. Parents receive regular updates of their children's learning and development. The childminder actively encourages parents to share information about what interests their child at home and this feeds into her planning. The childminder strongly supports children's physical development. Children have many opportunities to be physically active in the well-resourced garden. The childminder's home is well organised and inviting. The daily routine flows well and gives children time to follow their interests. Children gain confidence to attempt new challenges which helps them develop positive attitudes to their learning.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during the inspection and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated the learning outcomes of a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children present during the inspection. The inspector discussed self-evaluation with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is well qualified in childcare. She uses her observations of children's play very well to plan for what they need to learn next. She makes accurate assessments of children's learning and development over time. She knows that children are making good progress from their starting points. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder accesses training to ensure her knowledge of safeguarding is current. She knows the actions required if she has concerns about a child's welfare. Her home is safe and secure. There are relevant policies and procedures in place to ensure children's safety and welfare. The childminder effectively supervises her assistant to ensure he can support children's care and learning needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder asks parents about children's learning as part of induction arrangements. She values this information and uses it to establish children's starting points and to provide appropriate activities and resources from the start. Children enjoy time to follow their particular interests during the day. The childminder joins in with children's play at appropriate times to extend and enhance their learning. For example, she encourages children to see how many times they can bounce a ball using a bat. They count the number of bounces they successfully make. This supports their early mathematical skills in a meaningful way. The childminder plans visits in the local area to teach children about their community. Children learn about similarities and differences between people in the wider world through many well-planned activities over the year.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form strong attachments with the childminder. They behave well and any minor conflicts are managed sensitively by the childminder. Children play cooperatively and learn to share resources and take turns. The childminder provides children with healthy and balanced meals. She plans regular cookery sessions for the children and they learn, at first hand, about the ingredients that make up different foods. The childminder works in close partnerships with other settings that children attend to ensure continuity in children's learning and development.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress over time. They develop the key skills to support their future learning at school. They have strong communication skills and are confident to talk about themselves and their families. Children are keen to learn about the world around them. They have good observational skills. For example, as they whisk eggs, they talk about the changes that take place. Children have good levels of emotional and physical well-being which help them to persevere as they learn new skills.
