This provision requires improvement. It is not yet good because:
The childminder has failed to follow the correct procedures to inform Ofsted of all adults living on the premises. In addition, she does not have a clear understanding of her responsibility to notify Ofsted of significant changes and events. The childminder responds appropriately to treat children in the case of an accident but does not maintain the required records. At times, the childminder misses opportunities to help children learn about nature and how things grow, to deepen their understanding of the natural world. Self-evaluation processes are not rigorous enough to identify some areas where improvement is needed.
p.1
It has the following strengths
Children are confident and independent. They make good progress and develop the necessary skills for their future learning and for school. The childminder forms positive relationships with children and supports their emotional well-being effectively. The childminder establishes effective partnerships with parents and other settings children attend to help support their learning and development. Children behave well. The childminder shares her expectations with them well to help teach them about acceptable behaviour. The childminder gathers detailed information about children when they first start, to help her plan precisely for their individual needs and interests from the outset.

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all the parts of the premises, and observed the children and what they were doing. The inspector observed the interactions between the childminder and the children, and discussed the activities she plans for children. The inspector held discussions with the childminder about children's learning, their progress and how she reflects on the quality of her service. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, children's records and the childminder's policies and procedures. This inspection was completed as a result of the risk assessment process.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management requires improvement
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to recognise and report any signs that indicate a child may be at risk of harm. She carries out risk assessments and takes appropriate action to minimise any hazards in the environment. However, the childminder has not informed Ofsted of changes to those over 16 years of age living and working in her home. In addition, she does not have suitable arrangements to ensure that Ofsted is notified of significant events. However, the impact of these breaches of requirements on children's safety is minimal as the childminder supervises children closely. The childminder understands the importance of professional development to help improve children's experiences. For example, she researches different activities to help her successfully support children's learning and interests. The childminder seeks the advice of others, such as parents, to help improve her provision, but this process is not robust enough to help

her identify all areas that need improvement.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children play in a welcoming and friendly environment and are motivated to join in activities. The childminder supports children well while they play. For instance, she skilfully guides and questions them to help extend their play further. The childminder checks on children's development regularly and knows them well. She observes what they can do and uses this information effectively to plan age-appropriate experiences that successfully capture children's interest. For example, children have fun as they make a cake out of dough and engage the childminder in their imaginative games.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
The childminder does not record details of all accidents, as required, although she provides appropriate first-aid treatment and care to help support children's welfare. Children eat nutritious, balanced foods. They are active and enjoy outings in the local area where they develop their physical skills and well-being. Overall, children are happy, safe and secure. They develop their physical skills well. For example, they use tools with good control to practise their early writing. They learn about good hygiene practices and know how to manage their personal needs independently, such as pouring water to drink.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning from their starting points. They develop good social skills, such as interacting with others confidently. Children communicate clearly and listen attentively. Children enjoy activities that help them to develop early writing skills and develop good physical control and coordination. Children are prepared well for their future learning, including their move on to school.
