p.1

Main inspection findings

Part 3. Welfare, health and safety of pupils Paragraph 7, 7(a) and 7(b)  Leaders and managers have ensured that the safeguarding policy follows recent government guidelines and staff have the relevant up-to-date training. Although the school does not have a website, the policy is available to parents on request. Therefore, paragraphs 32(1) and 32(1)(c) of the standards for independent schools are met.  Although school leaders have made amendments to the single central register during the inspection it does not meet requirements and information contained within it is not always accurate. Staff responsible for safer recruitment have not ensured that appropriate references, prohibition from teaching checks and medical checks have been made.  Therefore these standards are not met. Paragraph 11  School leaders have a written health and safety policy. Aspects of the policy are implemented effectively, for example a member of staff has been trained as a fire

The DfE commissioned Ofsted to consider issues raised as a result of two complaints received. A separate report has been issued to consider these aspects.  The inspector was informed during the inspection that there had been a change of proprietor, to the Huddersfield Education Trust since the last inspection and that the Department for Education had been informed. However, subsequent to the inspection the headteacher informed the inspector that the proprietor is Al-Amal Education Ltd.  The inspector spoke to most pupils during the inspection and several members of
