This provision is good
The well-qualified childminder proactively seeks the views of parents and children to help her accurately evaluate her provision. She regularly takes part in professional development opportunities to continue to enhance the quality of her practice. The childminder regularly observes children as they play and uses this information well to successfully identify what they need to learn next. Partnerships with parents are good. For example, they are well informed about their child's daily care routines, activities and how well they are progressing in their learning. Parents make comments that they have never been calmer or happier to leave their children with someone else. The childminder helps children become independent learners. For example, children make independent choices and initiate their own play and learning. Children are encouraged to learn about appropriate ways to behave. For example, the

Inspection activities
The inspector looked at a sample of documentation. The inspector held discussions with some of the parents and considered their views along with other parents' written feedback. The inspector had discussions with the childminder at various points throughout the inspection. The inspector observed a range of indoor activities and discussed some of these with the childminder, to assess the quality of teaching and its impact on children's learning. The inspector jointly evaluated an activity with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow should she have concerns about a child's welfare. She keeps her knowledge of safeguarding matters up to date effectively, for example, through reading the latest legislation and by accessing online resources. The childminder completes thorough risk assessments and implements a good range of policies and procedures to help promote children's health and safety. She regularly reflects on her practice and is committed to continually improving her service. For example, since registration the childminder has improved how she observes and assesses children's development. This helps her to identify any potential gaps in learning and to put plans in place to reduce these swiftly. The childminder makes good use of local provisions, such as children's centres and playgroups, to enhance the experiences she provides for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are motivated and excited to learn. The childminder gathers all relevant information from parents about children when they first start and plans effectively for their development. She plans effectively to build on children's interests and move them on to the next stages of their development. For example, children show an interest in and enjoy completing puzzles and making marks. The childminder supports children's communication and language development well. For example, she repeats words that young children say to help support pronunciation and introduces new words to help extend their vocabulary. Children enjoy listening to music and learn to use simple musical instruments. The childminder encourages children to count and to name colours and shapes during play, helping to extend their mathematical skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy, settled and confident. For example, they freely approach the childminder to share their thoughts and ideas. The childminder frequently praises children for their achievements, which helps to support their self-esteem and emotional well-being. She supports children's physical health well. For example, children enjoy healthy meals and snacks, and follow good hygiene routines. They enjoy daily physical activities and the childminder provides a safe space for them to rest and sleep, according to their needs. Children develop a good understanding of similarities and differences between themselves and others to support their awareness of diversity.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children explore a wide range of suitable activities. They are active learners. Children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning. They learn to manage risks, for instance, when visiting the park and other places of interest with the childminder. They develop a good understanding about what it is like to go to school. For example, they go to collect older children from school with the childminder and talk about this experience.
