p.3

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate

The childminder's practice has considerably declined since the last inspection. This has resulted in numerous breaches to the requirements and has a significant impact on children's health, safety and learning. Safeguarding is ineffective. The childminder has not completed any child protection training. Although she can identify some signs of potential abuse, she lacks understanding of the 'Prevent' duty guidance. As she does not understand about managing technology, she cannot protect children from potential online risks. She is unsure of who to contact if she does have a concern about a child. Furthermore, the childminder is unclear of the correct procedure to follow in the event of an allegation being made about herself or a household member. The childminder does not keep her knowledge and skills up to date. She has failed to update her paediatric first-aid qualification and states she does not feel confident to deal with any accidents or injuries

children sustain. The childminder frequently cares for too many children in the early years age range. This means children's needs are not met and significantly compromises their safety. The childminder does not maintain the required documents, including records of attendance. Following this inspection, the provider resigned their registration.

p.4

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate

The quality of teaching is extremely poor. The childminder does not make any effort to extend children's learning or development. She merely supervises minded children when she is pre-occupied with caring for and supporting her own family members. The childminder does not observe what children can do or plan learning experiences that challenge children and help them make good progress. She organises some activities, such as drawing, but this does not follow children's interests. As a result, children become bored and are not motivated to learn. The childminder does not keep parents informed of their child's progress. She does not provide them with a written summary of the progress check for children between the ages of two and three years.

p.4

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate

Significant weaknesses in leadership and management have a negative impact on children. The childminder fails to provide a safe environment for children. She does not ensure her premises are fully secure and exposes children to unnecessary risks, such as leaving doors unlocked and open. Poor hygiene practices mean that the childminder does not maintain suitable standards of good health. Any steps she takes to support good health and hygiene are weak. During the inspection, the childminder cleaned each child's hands using the same wipes. She also cared for older children who were absent from school due to illness, which puts others at risk of infection. The childminder fails to manage some children's aggressive behaviour appropriately. She does not teach them what is acceptable, which compromises all children's emotional well-being.

p.4

Outcomes for children are inadequate

Children do not thrive and their learning is not supported. Any learning cannot be attributed to the childminder because her teaching practice is weak. Children do not develop the required skills to help them make good progress in their learning and be ready for school.
