This provision is good
Children form strong attachments to the caring and attentive childminder. They feel safe and happy, which promotes their sense of security and well-being. The childminder implements good systems to establish children's starting points and plan for their next steps. She quickly identifies and addresses any gaps in their learning to help children make good progress towards the early learning goals. Children are very well behaved and socially skilled. For example, they cooperate and negotiate, and learn to share and take turns in readiness for their move to school. Since the last inspection, the childminder has made good progress. She works effectively with parents to support children's learning at home and has introduced additional measures to support children's communication skills, such as basic signing. The childminder regularly reviews her practice to help her identify areas for improvement. For example, she plans to improve the garden to provide more

stimulating learning experiences for children who prefer to play outdoors.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes does things for children that they could do for themselves, such as preparing and serving snacks, and tidying away toys and resources, which does not help children to develop their independence further. The childminder does not consistently support and encourage children's freedom of expression, for example, she often provides templates that limit their creative thinking.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector talked with the childminder and children at appropriate times. The inspector viewed the premises, toys and equipment. The inspector sampled documentation, including safeguarding procedures, qualification certificates and children's records. The inspector observed interactions between the childminder and children. The inspector took account of recently written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is confident to identify any concerns and follow the local safeguarding procedures if required. She completes a risk assessment for her premises, equipment and outings, to help her keep children safe. Children practise fire drills with the childminder, and learn about road and beach safety and 'stranger danger'. The childminder regularly improves her knowledge and skills. For example, she researches ways to support children's early writing and mathematical skills. This has led her to provide activities, such as cooking, where they make recipe cards, and weigh and measure ingredients. The childminder works well with other settings children attend, to maintain continuity of care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is calm, patient and skilful in her teaching. For example, she carefully explains to children why it is important to share with one another and rewards them with plenty of praise for their good behaviour. The childminder knows children well. She plans activities that truly interest and engage them, such as daily outings to social activity groups and visits to the local woodlands to observe wildlife. The childminder successfully supports children's understanding of people's similarities and differences, for example, through use of books, puzzles and role play. She interacts well to support children's good progress, for example by encouraging them to persevere with tasks they find challenging.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are eager to attend the setting. They move freely around the childminder's home to select favourite toys from the wide range available, and enthusiastically initiate play with their friends. The childminder listens to, respects and acts on the children's ideas and suggestions, which effectively boosts their sense of self-worth and self-esteem. Children learn about the importance of healthy eating and good hygiene procedures during discussions with the childminder at snack time. They enjoy plenty of opportunities to develop their physical skills further, for example, by using equipment, such as wheeled toys and climbing equipment, and during visits to indoor activity centres, the park and beach.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are very settled, confident and keen to learn. They listen attentively, follow instructions well and enthusiastically chat about what they are doing. Children establish very good friendships with one another. They learn how to keep themselves safe, for example, when using wheeled toys, so they take care to avoid collisions. Older children are eager to show younger children how to use equipment safely, such as play dough tools. Children gain good skills in preparation for their future learning.
