This provision is inadequate
The childminder does not have a secure knowledge of the requirements of the early years foundation stage. She is not aware of the requirement to notify Ofsted about any assistants she employs. She does not follow robust recruitment and vetting procedures to ensure her assistants are suitable to work with children. The childminder and her assistants do not have a secure knowledge of safeguarding procedures, including their responsibility regarding the 'Prevent' duty. The childminder's safeguarding policy is not detailed enough to ensure they can report concerns promptly to the appropriate agencies. This is also a breach to the requirements for the Childcare Register.
p.1
It has the following strengths
Children are highly motivated to learn. The childminder and her assistants have high expectations of children. They challenge them in their play and are always close by to support and extend children's learning. The childminder meets children's emotional needs well. She works closely with parents to ensure children settle in her care. She is prompt at attending to children's individual care needs, and children are relaxed and happy. Activities are exciting and children delight in the learning opportunities. The childminder creates a stimulating environment for children to learn. She tailors children's learning to their individual needs and plans for their interests. The childminder works well with parents. She regularly obtains their views about her service to extend children's learning and ensures they share information daily.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector had a tour of the setting. The inspector spoke with the childminder, assistants and children during the inspection and took account of their views. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector held several discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of suitability for staff working with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
Arrangements for safeguarding are not effective. The childminder has recruited assistants to work with her, but failed to notify Ofsted of their employment, so they have the necessary information to carry out checks to determine their suitability. Furthermore, the childminder does not have robust recruitment and vetting procedures to ensure her assistants' suitability. Although the childminder and her assistants know the signs to look out for should they have a safeguarding concern, and know to report them, they do not know about the Local Safeguarding Children Board guidance to ensure they follow the correct procedures. They are not aware of the 'Prevent' duty and how to protect children from radical views and behaviour, and how to report their concerns. The childminder does not have a robust safeguarding policy to support them. The childminder monitors children's learning closely and supports assistants to track their key children's progress.
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
She seeks ideas to develop her skills and provides constructive feedback to her assistants regarding their teaching to support continuous improvement to children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is well qualified and an experienced teacher. She plans for children's individual needs well and ensures all children engage in learning throughout the day. Children have a wide choice of learning opportunities. The childminder deploys her assistants well to guide and support play. They ask questions as children play to promote their thinking skills. For example, when children were exploring objects that float and sink in the water tray, the assistant asked, 'What do you think will happen?' The childminder shares children's learning daily with parents, and encourages them to support learning at home. For example, she gives parents activities and ideas for them to enjoy with their children. The childminder has strong relationships with other settings that children attend. The childminder shares information with them to support children's continued development and progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
The childminder does not ensure the suitability of her assistants well enough. This, and their weak knowledge of safeguarding, compromises children's welfare. Nevertheless, children are confident and behave very well. They make friends easily, and the childminder and assistants know each child well. The childminder follows children's individual care routines and children learn how to follow healthy lifestyles. Children access outdoor play throughout the day and enjoy a nutritious and balanced diet.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning and development, and receive good support that prepares them well for their move on to school. Children enjoy learning and actively seek out challenges. They learn to listen well, follow instructions and develop good early literacy and mathematics skills. Children are inquisitive and develop vivid imaginations. They play well together, share and take turns, and have good social skills.
