This provision is good
The childminder has warm, caring relationships with children. She supports children's emotional and physical well-being effectively and is sensitive to their individual needs. Children benefit from a safe, well-organised learning environment. For instance, they easily choose from a good variety of toys and play materials. The childminder plans a wide variety of stimulating experiences for children based on her good knowledge of their interests and abilities. Children make good progress in their development from their starting points and enjoy their time at the setting. There are positive relationships with parents. For example, the childminder provides them with regular updates about children's progress and offers suggestions for extending children's learning at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not work as closely as possible with the other early years settings that children attend, to help develop a shared approach to children's learning. The childminder does not make full use of opportunities to develop her knowledge and skills even further, to continue to raise the quality of children's experiences.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children taking part in activities with the childminder and assessed the impact on their learning. The inspector had discussions with the childminder throughout the inspection about her practice, children's learning and development, and her evaluation of activities. The inspector sampled documents, including children's records. The inspector read letters from parents and took account of their views. The inspector looked around the areas of the home used by children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibilities and knows how to recognise and report any concerns about a child's welfare or well- being. The childminder is vigilant about keeping children safe. She checks her home thoroughly each day to help identify and remove any hazards and supervises children closely at all times. The childminder reflects on her practice and makes effective improvements. For instance, she is currently developing the outside play space to offer exciting new challenges and experiences for children. She regularly seeks the views of parents and children to help her evaluate the provision.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children closely. She monitors their progress effectively and quickly identifies areas where they are doing well and where they may need more support. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills well. For instance, older children enjoy long conversations and babies are excited to listen to stories and songs. She responds to children's interests and gives them time to develop their own ideas. For example, children were delighted to make large models of their favourite superhero and the childminder gave them time to think carefully about what they wanted to do.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model and offers children calm, patient guidance and praise. Children behave well. Older children show care and concern for their younger friends, such as making sure they have their favourite toy. They learn to value each other's similarities and differences, such as when they share food from home. The childminder helps children develop an awareness of safety, for instance, they take part in fire drills and learn what to do in an emergency. Children play outside every day and enjoy good opportunities to practise their physical skills, such as during active games in the park or walking to the beach.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make confident choices and decisions. For example, they decide what to play with and choose what to have for their snack. They grow in confidence and gain independence skills, such as washing their hands or helping to tidy up. Children get along well together and learn to share and take turns. They are confident communicators and clearly express their wishes and needs. Older children count competently and learn to write their name. Children are well prepared for their future learning and for the move to school.
