This provision is good
The childminder's teaching is very strong. She uses every opportunity to continually provide experiences that involve children in activities to enhance, consolidate and challenge their ongoing learning. Children thrive in this nurturing, educational environment where they thoroughly enjoy spending time. They build close bonds with the childminder who is warm and affectionate. Children develop friendships with their peers, who they enjoy playing with. Children's behaviour is good. The childminder teaches them to be considerate to their peers. The exceptionally positive experiences that they have leave them keen to help and support each other at all times. The childminder is dedicated to providing children with high-quality early years experiences. She considers the views of children and parents to identify and enhance her already strong practice.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Although the childminder works closely with most other settings that children attend, partnerships with some are not as strong. Professional development is not precisely focused on developing an expert knowledge of teaching. The childminder has not fully explored ways to continually build on the quality of her teaching to help children make the best possible progress.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of child protection. She ensures that all children are protected from harm and provides a safe and secure environment. The childminder is meticulous in her assessment of any potential risks. She continually considers steps to promote children's safety. Parents are extremely complimentary about the services that the childminder provides. They are provided with information that helps them to understand children's development and how to be proactive in promoting their welfare. The childminder works in partnership with specialist professionals which enables her to guide and support parents. This collaborative approach helps all children to reach their full potential.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder's assessments of children's levels of attainment are detailed and informative. She has an excellent understanding of what each child needs to achieve next. Her precise planning enables her to incorporate all areas of learning into her activities. Children show excitement and curiosity when asked to find a special box. The childminder gives them clear, step by step instructions so that they open it themselves. Children are delighted to find a range of wooden instruments. They enjoy using beaters to sound out a rhythm together. The childminder's good teaching helps children to make good progress in speaking. She continually prompts them to ask for things that they need and models words and phrases to help them when they are having difficulties.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children to gain an understanding of their similarities and differences. She uses stories to help children to identify characteristics that they can recognise in themselves. Children are learning how to keep themselves safe. They understand that a belt secures them into a seat at mealtimes and the childminder discusses strategies that they can use to help promote their well-being. The childminder helps children to gain good self-help and physical skills that help them to become more independent. The genuine praise and encouragement that children receive promotes an extremely positive environment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children, including those who receive government funding, make very good progress from their starting points. Older children are beginning to recall letters and the sounds that they make. Children count confidently throughout the day and identify a variety of different shapes. Younger children are beginning to develop friendships with others that help to promote their social development. All children show that they are gaining key skills that prepare them for the next stage in their learning, including the move on to school.
