This provision is good
Children of all ages are making good progress. Those who are getting ready for the move on to school are well prepared. The childminder provides warm and welcoming play areas for children which they explore freely. Children easily access a wide range of resources indoors and outdoors. The experienced and well-qualified childminder carefully observes and monitors children's development. She uses her assessments effectively to quickly identify and address any gaps in children's learning. Partnership working with parents is strong. Parents are very complimentary and value the quality of care and support that the childminder and her assistant provide. The childminder evaluates her service and takes into account the views of parents and children when making any changes. These help her to continually improve the provision overall. Children behave very well. The childminder and her assistant offer plenty of praise and

encouragement, helping to promote children's confidence and self-esteem.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently exchange information with other early years settings that children attend to help promote continuity in their learning. The childminder does not target professional development opportunities for herself and her assistant to continue raising the standard of teaching even further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

strengthen partnerships with other early years settings that children attend, sharing more information about children's learning and development target professional development more precisely to continue raising the quality of teaching and learning even further.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of adults living and working on the premises. The inspector took into account the views of a number of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder and her assistant are clear about the procedures to follow should they have any concerns about a child in their care. They carry out frequent and thorough checks of the environment to help keep children safe. The childminder supervises the work of her assistant carefully and supports her well during routines and activities. The childminder works effectively with local schools to support children when they leave her care. Parents are very pleased with the progress that their children make from the start.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses questioning skilfully to help children think for themselves and to extend their language skills. She encourages children to explore and investigate. For instance, as they play with water, children choose from a wide range of containers and resources that stimulates their imaginative play, including model fish and butterflies. Children share and take turns, for example, as they play matching games with the childminder and her assistant. Children's early literacy skills are promoted very effectively in readiness for their move on to school. The childminder and her assistant provide fun activities that help children to recognise and write the letters in their own names. They celebrate children's achievements enthusiastically, for instance, as they manage to complete a jigsaw puzzle. They discuss the letters shown on the puzzle and the sounds that they represent, helping to extend children's understanding.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle quickly and happily at the childminder's home. They regularly enjoy outdoor play both in the garden and in local parks, practising their physical skills. Children form secure relationships with the childminder and her assistant. They have access to drinking water continuously and wear sun hats and protective cream during hot weather. Their personal care needs are promptly addressed. For example, young children's nappies are checked and changed frequently. Children are learning through daily routines about how to look after themselves. For example, they sing a song to remind themselves about when to wash their hands. Children enjoy the responsibility of small tasks, such as cutting up bananas to eat as part of their lunch.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They are motivated and enthusiastic learners. Young children learn to count, sing songs and practise skills that support their growing independence, such as using cutlery. Older children develop the attributes and skills that they will need for their move on to nursery and school. They listen carefully, follow instructions and concentrate well during activities. Children socialise together very well and form firm friendships. They are kind and helpful towards each other.
