The childminder is highly skilful in supporting children in their play. For example, she uses mathematical language as the children count the many legs of a woodlice in the garden or shop with money in the role-play area. She plans extremely well-thought-out activities, including many outings that she knows will really excite and challenge young children. For example, she takes the children on visits to a nearby model village where they can see a working miniature train track. Children experiment with tools, such as tweezers and magnifying glasses, while thoroughly enjoying playing at the mini-beast tray. This helps to increase the coordination of their hands and fingers superbly for future writing.

The childminder is now considering how to further develop children's excellent awareness of healthy eating. Children learn to stay safe, such as when out walking near roads.
