This provision is good
The experienced childminder is well organised and committed to providing a safe environment where children can play, learn and develop. The childminder observes children as they play and assesses their progress. She shares information regularly with parents so they know how to support their children's ongoing learning and development at home. Children are confident talkers. The childminder provides children with good opportunities to express their ideas and talk about what they know. Children establish strong attachments with the childminder. They demonstrate that they feel safe and secure in her care, as they explore the environment freely and seeks her out to share their experiences with her. The childminder is a good role model, she promotes a calm atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. Children behave very well. They show consideration and kindness towards each other.
p.1

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder attends regular child protection training. She knows what to do should she have any concerns regarding a child's welfare. The childminder regularly reviews the progress children make. She has implemented effective systems to help her to identify any gaps in children's progress. She regularly reviews the effectiveness of her practice to help children to make progress. She seeks parents' views to help her to identify any areas to improve in her provision. Parents are very positive about the childminder. They state that their children enjoy spending time with her and they are very well cared for.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder knows the children very well. She adapts activities and outings to reflect children's emerging interests and stage of development. For example, she ensures there are a variety of activities to support younger children to move about both indoors and outdoors. They race toy cars down old guttering and drive them and ride-on toys in the garden. They grasp paintbrushes and use their hands to make marks on paper. They learn about cause and effects as they play with a range of toys with buttons to press and flaps to open. Older children talk about the different food animals eat, as they imaginatively create a 'sand zoo' in the garden. The childminder sensitively joins in with their games and asks a range of questions to extend their ideas and play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder prioritises children's safety and emotional well-being. She is vigilant about hazards as they arise. She gently supports children to understand how to keep themselves safe. For example, she explains that sand might get into children's eyes if it is thrown. She teaches children about the benefits of eating healthy foods and enjoying physical activities outdoors in the fresh air. She supports children to become independent in all aspects of their personal care. The childminder establishes effective partnerships with other professionals to promote consistency and continuity in children's care. Children are well supported emotionally during times of change, such as the move on to school. They accompany the childminder on the school run and become familiar with the school environment and teachers.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress given their starting points and capabilities. They are confident to explore and eager to join in with the activities. They are becoming independent, managing their personal needs and in their play. Peer friendships are beginning to flourish. Children are acquiring key skills and positive attitudes to support their future education.
